West End Renaissance Committee Eradicating Blight

Committee of 7 individuals concerned about the increasing amount of dilapidated, abandoned properties in the west end that had become a haven for criminal activity and wildlife. In 2004 a formal organization was created to meet with local and state officials in an effort to bring about a rebirth of the west end making it an area in which residents would be proud to live.

In April of this year we were saddened by the loss of Jeniel M. Gant, our beloved President and Co-founder. She was not always in the public eye, but was persistently working to accomplish our mission. Under her leadership, partnership with local government and other organizations in the county, over 50 blighted properties have been razed! WE WILL CONTINUE OUR MISSION!

We will miss her beautiful smile and loving personality.

In recognition of Jeniel, members of the committee and her grandson “Jesstin” rode in the Midland July 4th parade.
