Our Residential Staff created a wonderful picnic day at Shelterhouse filled with good food, ice cream sandwiches, crafts, outdoor games, and, of course, plenty of bubbles! 🫧🍦🎨

Moments like these are about more than just having fun—they’re about creating a sense of community, coming together, and reminding each other that you are not alone. 💜

Having connection, support, and a safe community can go a long way in the healing process. We’re grateful for the staff who help create these meaningful moments and for everyone who shared in the day.

Shelterhouse would like to extend a huge thank you to Dirty Dog Run and our amazing community for supporting the four-legged friends who enter our shelter alongside their survivors. 🐾❤️

One tactic abusers may use is threatening to harm or take away a survivor’s beloved pet to create fear and prevent them from leaving an abusive situation. For many survivors, knowing their pets will be safe is an important part of being able to seek safety.

At Shelterhouse, we believe safety means protecting the whole family—including our four-legged family members. We are so grateful to Dirty Dog Run and our community for helping us provide a safe and welcoming place for survivors and their pets.

Thank you for standing with survivors and helping us keep their entire family safe. 💜🐾
