The first Mindfulness Pebbles class will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 5:30 pm right here at the library! The first installment of this six-lesson series will cover the basics of mindfulness with a focus on foundational practices to start directing your attention to the present moment and learning what mindfulness means.

The following session will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 5:30 pm and will focus on mindfulness principles regarding breath. Participants will learn how to exercise mindful breathing through various techniques and observations.

Appearance on abc12 this morning by Brandon Hillaker to promote his "Tri for Hope" movie premiere at Bay City's State Theatre on Thursday, May 21 (tomorrow). Doors open at 6pm, movie starts at 7. Brandon is the NAMI Michigan Peer Support Person of the Year. Story of his mental health journey and his almost 400 mile journey from Hell to Paradise on his bike, swimming across the Straits, and then on his feet running to Paradise. Amazing!

Attending the NAMI Michigan Annual Conference in Ann Arbor this Monday & Tuesday. Opening Session this morning featured Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, a Democrat, and the only candidate for governor to accept NAMI's invite to speak about his approach to behavioral health issues. Executive Director Kevin Fischer shared the stage and did the Q& A.

Brandon Hillaker, NAMI Middle Michigan peer/connection support group facilitator shared how he earned his GED in the Saginaw County Jail (and now a degree from Delta College) and asked Swanson about his plans to spread his many innovative programs to Michigan's other 82 counties.
