The Midland Chamber of Commerce office will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. This historic day marks the end of slavery in Texas and has long been celebrated as a day of freedom, reflection, education, and community.

As we recognize this important chapter in our nation's history, we encourage everyone to take time to learn, reflect, and honor the significance of Juneteenth.

Our offices will reopen during normal business hours on Monday, June 22.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🇺🇸

Help make Midland's biggest Independence Day celebration a success!

The Midland Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers for the 2026 Star-Spangled Salute, presented by ExxonMobil. With an anticipated attendance of more than 10,000 people, this community tradition relies on dedicated volunteers to help create a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day on Saturday, July 4, with the greatest need during the following times:
• 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
• 5:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Short shifts are available, making it easy to participate while still enjoying the festivities with family and friends.

Why volunteer?
⭐ Showcase your business and community involvement (volunteers are encouraged to wear company-branded caps)
⭐ Connect with fellow community members
⭐ Strengthen relationships by volunteering alongside coworkers, friends, or family

As we prepare for the 2026 Star-Spangled Salute on July 4th, we want our community to know that safety remains our highest priority. Every year, extensive planning takes place months in advance involving local law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel, emergency management officials, private security teams, and event partners to help provide a safe, family-friendly experience for all attendees.

Dozens of safety and emergency personnel will be on-site throughout the event. The partnership has coordinated public safety infrastructure, emergency response plans, and clear lines of communication among all public safety entities. Enhanced security measures, including controlled entry points, security screening, and a clear bag policy, are also in place to help ensure a safe environment.

The Star-Spangled Salute has long been a celebration of country, community, and family. We are grateful for the dedicated first responders and public safety professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help make this event possible.

We look forward to coming together as a community on July 4th to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary in a safe, welcoming, and patriotic atmosphere.
