The Midland Historical Society seeks to collect, preserve, and share the history of Midland. Membership is open to all interested in Midland County History.

Established in 1957, the Midland Historical Society has worked tirelessly to maintain records of Midland's lengthy history. The society is a diverse community of members dedicated to preserving the history of Midland County, Texas and educate students, citizens and others interested in this history. The society assists with the operation of the Midland County Historical Museum and the Brown-Dorsey Medallion Home, Midland's oldest home. The society meets several times a year, usually at the Midland County Historical Museum on the third Tuesday of the month. The society is a 501 (c) (3) organization and and qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts.

In the spirit of the season, check out something spooky 👻 at Midland’s oldest home! Historic dolls will be placed throughout the Brown-Dorsey Home - find, view, and learn about the creepy dolls while touring around the landmark in the dark.

All ages welcome
$15 entry fee

TOMORROW we celebrate 🥂50 YEARS 🥂 of tours and the completion of the exterior restoration project at the Brown-Dorsey Historic Home!

We will have a glass of bubbly (or water or lemonade) to cheer with and a chance to share a few grapes with us in recognition of Taylor Brown’s growing of grapes for his w**e. The home will be open on the ground floor and will include a display of the work done over the last ten years to reach this point. We will also be sharing exciting plans for the future and our goal to transform the grounds to allow for even greater events in the future!

Help us celebrate the completion of the restoration project and 50 years of tours at the Brown-Dorsey Historic Home! See the home restored to its original “new” look from its build in 1900. The interior of the home will be open to visit, though there will be no formal tours. Celebratory beverages will be served.

Since July 4, 1976, the Midland Historical Society has opened Midland’s oldest home for various tours and events - like ice cream socials, Maypole celebrations, Fourth of July days, Christmas in 1900, and even Preaching from the Porch. You’re invited to commemorate these milestones and learn about all the exciting plans we have for enhancing the grounds of this Midland treasure.
