The Charge Robotics

The Charge Robotics The Charge is organized as a club within the Midland Public Schools.

We are The Charge, Team 2619, a FIRST robotics team from Midland, Michigan, working "to create a world where science and technology are celebrated, where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes". The Charge -- The Midland Area Robotics Team -- is a team of high school students and adult mentors who participate in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technolog

y, http://www.usfirst.org/) competitions. The primary focus of the Midland Area Robotics Team is to design, fabricate, construct, and test a large-scale robot for regional, state, and international competitions. The team brings together skills in areas of business, communications, fund raising, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and programming to effectively compete in the FIRST Robotics Competitions. The team is an opportunity for the students to work with a wide range of mentors with industry experience to gain hands-on technical and teamwork skills in a high energy environment.

We’ll take tomorrow off to rest….and our offseason starts on Tuesday! We’re excited about the STEM & community outreach events we have planned throughout the summer. And we are looking forward to moving to the new Midjand Public Schools Robotics Center starting this week!
We’ll give more updates & photos about Worlds and our favorite experiences and what we learned in the coming weeks. Thanks again to our sponsors, families, school, community & friends that helped make the trip possible!

And that's a wrap on Worlds and our 2026 Competition Season, REBUILT! We were not selected for playoffs today - but we had a blast cheering on teams and watching high scoring & high energy competition matches! The FIRST Championship was a whirlwind of an adventure for our team - and we are so thankful for the experiences, all that we learned, and the new friendships we made. We are on the bus and headed home to Midland!

This week's T-SHIRT FRIDAY was celebrating another group of incredible MPS students representing us on the world stage! The Charge Robotics from Dow High School and the Jefferson Technohuskies from Jefferson Middle School are competing at FIRST Robotics Competition Worlds in Houston. Good luck, teams!

No luck on trying to get either superintendent to do The Robot on camera for this, unfortunately.

Yesterday we completed our second day of competition at Worlds! Our team attended seminars, talked with judges in the pits, visited with alumni, and cheered on the drive team during matches. It has been fun to be on the same field at BlitzCreek Robotics - representing Midland county FRC teams together! The Charge finished qualifications matches over the two competition days with 5 wins and 5 losses and is ranked 40 out of the 75 teams on the Johnson Division field. One of our highlights yesterday was playing on alliances with teams from Canada, China, Mexico and Israel, in addition to teams from across the US. This morning will bring alliance selection where we will find how who from our field is going to the playoffs. We are having fun and learning new things and we are so thankful for the support from our sponsors, parents, school, and community that has helped make this trip to Worlds possible!

We had a fun first day of competition at Worlds! Our team members attended some seminars throughout the day and attended the FIRST block party this evening. We visited Jefferson's TechnoHuskies in the pits and got to cheer them on during one of their FTC matches! Our robot & drive team finished the first day of qualification matches with 3 wins and 2 losses and we are ranked 26th out of 75 teams on the Johnson Division field. Some highlights from our field were meeting teams from other countries and hearing the field emcee call part of the some matches in other languages. We had fun practicing end-game tower climbing with Team 118 Robonauts and then having our alliance earn the traversal ranking point during our match with them and with Team 6829 Ignite Robotics!
We are excited for the second competition day tomorrow - we have 5 more qualification matches and additional seminars to attend!

*Edit: The times in the table are Eastern (not Central time!)*

The team has arrived in Houston! Today was spent checking-in, setting up the pits, working on the robot, playing practice matches and attending seminars.

The qualification match schedule for our team has been posted. Qualification matches will be played over the next two days - The Charge plays on the Johnson Division field and we have five matches on Thursday and five matches on Friday.

Here is the link showing video links for our field, the Johnson Division field: https://frc-events.firstinspires.org/2026/JOHNSON/watch. Note there are different YouTube URLs for each day of broadcasts. There are 75 teams assigned to each field with 8 different fields playing simultaneously - that's a total of 600 FRC teams from across the world! Our field is named after Katherine Johnson - she was a renowned NASA mathematician whose orbital mechanics calculations were critical to the success of the first U.S. crewed spaceflights.

We are so excited that BlitzCreek Robotics from Midland, MI is also playing on the Johnson Division field! And we are thrilled that Jefferson's TechnoHuskies from Midland, MI are competing in the FTC Goodall Division at Worlds as well.

Thanks again to our sponsors, family and community who have supported and helped us throughout the season and helped support us in our journey to the FIRST Championship!

Thanks for the support!
