He walked through our doors looking for a place to belong.

Then one day, with absolute conviction, he told us:

“I’m going to work here.”

And if you know Shaun, you already know what happened next.

What we couldn't have known was just how far his journey would take him, or how many other people would be impacted because he found his own way forward.

Participant. Drug Court Graduate. Peer. Community Builder. Advocate. Lifesaver.

But those titles still don't tell the best part of Shaun's story.

His heart does.

Edition #6 is about what can happen when we stop defining people by where they are and start believing in who they can become.

Naloxone Hub Program Highlight: We Remember. We Respond.

What if one small box could mean one more tomorrow?

Naloxone is more than a medication. It is a living saving tool. It is opportunity for someone to reach a life of recovery. It is a community saying, “Your life is worth living.”

Through Thriving United’s Naloxone Hub Program, our team took that message beyond our walls and into the community, expanding access to lifesaving naloxone, providing overdose-response education, building partnerships, and equipping everyday people to respond when seconds matter.

Because behind every kit distributed is a possibility.

Another conversation.
Another birthday.
Another chance at recovery.
Another life still being lived.

This work was never simply about distributing naloxone. It was about people showing up for people and building a community that was more prepared to respond.

As we continue our Legacy Newsletter Series, we remember the people who made this work possible, the lives that shaped our mission, and every person whose story is still being written.

TEAM MEMBER HIGHLIGHT | LOOPS ✨💜

She walked in as a participant.
She leaves as a whole vibe.

Participant → House Manager → THRIVE! Teen Facilitator → Peer Support Professional → Employee of the Year 2024.

Every step, we watched that superpower that was already inside her start to wake up. And when she finally SAW herself? Unstoppable.

She brought that magic to re-entry, real talk, real love, real lived experience you can't learn in a book. "I got you. Your story isn't over."

Hardest lesson she mastered: you have to fall in love with the woman in the mirror first. Self-love isn't selfish in recovery, it's essential. You can't pour from an empty cup.

Loops, you did the work. You built a beautiful, thriving life.

So, sparkle brightly. Don't you ever dim your light to make someone else comfortable. You're meant for BIG things, and we have ALWAYS known it!

🏡 OUR ANGEL HAVEN STORIES | LEGACY SERIES • EDITION #3

Some places give you somewhere to stay. Others give you room to become.

As we continue our Thriving United Legacy Newsletter Series, Edition #3 takes us inside a program that became home to so many along the way: Angel Haven Recovery Residences. Angel Haven was never meant to be defined simply by walls, bedrooms, rules, or an address. It was about creating a safe, recovery-centered environment where people could begin building a life beyond substance use, surrounded by others who understood that recovery happens one day, one decision, and sometimes one really hard conversation at a time.

Within these homes, we witnessed incredible courage.

We watched women begin to see that the experiences they once believed disqualified them from a meaningful future could become part of what equipped them for one. The things that once felt like barriers became steppingstones. Pain became wisdom. Experiences became lessons. Strengths began to emerge. And little by little, we watched women discover purpose in places where they may have once only seen broken pieces.

They didn't have to erase their past to build their future. They learned they could use it.

We watched residents learn how to live in community again. They took on responsibility, navigated conflict, celebrated milestones, practiced accountability, built relationships, discovered strengths, and began imagining futures that once felt out of reach. There was laughter around the table. There were difficult days. There were second chances and fresh starts. There were lessons learned, friendships formed, tears shed, milestones celebrated, and countless ordinary moments that became part of something extraordinary.

And through it all, there were stories.

Stories of resilience.
Stories of belonging.
Stories of becoming.
Stories of women discovering that recovery could be more than something they hoped for.

It could become a life they were building.

In this edition, we're sharing a glimpse into the journeys of three incredible women who once called Angel Haven home, along with a look at who they are today.

So, let's go back take a moment to go back in time to where it all began ...

We are needing volunteers for Saturday, August 8th and Saturday, August 15th, to help us move furniture and other items from our Recovery Homes to the center. We are asking for as many as possible to help this go faster. We will meet at the center each morning at 9 am. The address and other details are listed on the flyer!
