The manger scene pictured here is one of last year's winning entries, a wonderful illustration of what it means to keep Christ in Christmas! (You might recognize it from some of our parish's Christmas event flyers!) We can't wait to see what our kiddos have created this year. Hope you can join us!

This Thursday evening, we welcome Bishop Gruss to our parish for a Holy Hour for Vocations. All are invited to join us from around the diocese for this special time of prayer and celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope!

In honor of the Jubilee, the bishop has designated us as one of several Pilgrimage Churches in the diocese. Faithful who visit to attend the Holy Hour with the bishop may receive a plenary indulgence if they also attend Mass, receive Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and pray for the intentions of Pope Francis.

These works need not take place on the same day, but may be performed within several days before or after the Holy Hour. Those who wish to gain the indulgence are welcome to join us on Wednesday evening for 6:30 pm Mass followed by Reconciliation.

For a list of upcoming Holy Hours in the area, please visit saginaw.org/holy-hours-vocations

This morning, Pope Francis died in Rome. He has truly been an inspiration to us and to people of good will worldwide.

Let us pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be for Pope Francis, for our Church, discernment for the cardinals tasked to choose a successor, and for the entire world. We are devastated, but Pope Francis joyfully preached a Gospel of hope. In that Christian hope, we commend his spirit to our crucified and risen Savior in the firm belief of eternal life.

The church bells will be rung between 7:30 and 8:00 this morning in memoriam. Mass will be at 8:00 a.m. this morning, followed by rosary for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. Please pray for him throughout this week, especially on Wednesday, the patronal memorial of his birth name, St. George.

May the angels welcome him to paradise. May the martyrs greet him on the way. May he see the face of the Lord this day. Alleluia!

Come join us on May 7!!

Today we celebrate Founder’s Day with more than 2.1 million Knights worldwide. After months of preparatory meetings, the state of Connecticut incorporated the Knights of Columbus as a Catholic fraternal benefit society in 1882. 143 years later, Knights continue the charitable mission of Blessed Michael McGivney by uniting in service to their families, parishes, and communities.
