8 DOWN. 22 TO GO

On September 1st, Angie and I get on a plane to Cap-Haïtien.

On October 1st, 30 kids walk into school for the first time with a uniform, books, meals, and healthcare.

As of this morning - 8 of those 30 chairs are filled. 22 are still empty. And I’m not leaving them empty.

Most of you know our story - in 2010 I began volunteering as a nurse at St. François de Salle Hospital. A woman cooked lunch outside every day to survive. Her daughter Darline played in the dirt next to her. Couldn’t afford school.

We paid her school fees. One year. Then another. Then another.

Today Darline is a REGISTERED NURSE in Cap-Haïtien.

That one girl became 30.

Angie knows this walk. She grew up in Cap-Haïtien and started selling in the street at 14 to pay her own school fees. Her uniform was donated and re-sewn by a neighbor. Her only shoes were white shoes she had to polish black - because school requires black shoes. Every time it rained, the polish ran.

Someone once gave her real black shoes. She never forgot it.

That’s what this is.
This isn’t “awareness.” This is receipts.
$15 = a FULL YEAR of healthcare for one child (locked via our 13-year hospital partner Sarepta)
$25 = one month of daily school meals
$1,500 = you sponsor ONE child for the entire year. Tuition + uniform + books + meals + healthcare.

No overhead theatre. We publish every line item. Tuition goes straight to the school.

We fly Sept 1 to finalize enrollment. School starts Oct 1. Every child sponsored between now and then is IN that pilot class on day one.

Angie and I are covering the flights, the ground work, all of it. Your gift goes to the kids.

If 22 people see this and say “I got one” - we are FULL before we land.

Can you take a chair?

In three weeks, Angie and I get on a plane to Cap-Haïtien.

We'll be there for a few months. And one of the first things we'll do is sit down with families and choose the children for our first school year.

Here's what that means. Every sponsorship that comes in before September 1 is a seat we can fill when we make those selections. A real child, chosen in person, enrolled before the first bell on October 1.

Seven are sponsored so far. I'm asking for the eighth.

$1,500 covers a child for the full year — tuition, uniform, books, a daily meal, and healthcare through our partner hospital. $125 a month does the same thing. $25 a month feeds one child.

I spent sixteen years as a nurse in Cap-Haïtien. I have watched bright kids stay home over a uniform and a tuition bill. This year we're doing something about thirty of them.

Three weeks.

$25 a month helps. $1,500 covers one child for a full year — tuition, uniform, books, meals, healthcare. Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.

My wife Angie grew up in Cap-Haïtien.
At 14 she worked as a street merchant to pay her own school fees. Her uniform was
donated, re-sewn by a neighbor. Her shoes were second-hand white shoes polished black
— because Haitian schools require black shoes. Every time it rained, the polish ran, and she
got in trouble.

Until a friend gave her a real pair of black shoes. “I know that shame. I know that walk.”
That’s why our sponsorships include a new uniform — fitted, new, and theirs to keep. $75 of the $940. It’s not a detail. For a kid, it’s dignity.

24 children in Cap-Haïtien are waiting for someone to be that friend. School starts October 1st.

Another child got sponsored this week. 6 down. 24 to go.

School in Cap-Haïtien starts October 1 — that’s 66 days from today. Every one of our 30 children will walk through that door with a uniform, books, a daily meal, and healthcare. What we’re still working on is who stands behind each of them.

$940 sponsors one child for the entire school year. Everything included — tuition, uniform, books, meals, doctor visits. That’s about $79 a month. Less than most of us spend on streaming and coffee.

Can’t do a full sponsorship? $25 feeds a child for a month. It all goes into the same 30 kids.

I’ve been quiet for a couple of months — knee surgery will do that to you. But I’m back on my feet, and there’s work waiting.

School in Cap-Haïtien starts October 1. Haiti Child Thrive Foundation is enrolling our first class of 30 children — and 24 of them are still waiting on a sponsor.

Here’s what sponsorship actually means with us: $940 covers one child for the entire year. Tuition, a new uniform, books, a meal every school day, and full healthcare through our hospital partner. Not a portion of it. All of it.

Angie grew up in these same streets. I’ve spent 16 years working in Haiti as a nurse. We built this foundation to do one thing well: get a child through school healthy, fed, and ready for a future.

6 children are covered. 24 to go. 71 days until the first bell.

If you can sponsor a child — or give any amount toward one — here’s where to do it:

For two weeks, we went quiet.

Here's why: I was tired.

Tired of paying tuition for sixteen years and watching brilliant Haitian kids graduate with nowhere to go. One student found a real career. One.

So we stopped. We rebuilt. And what we're coming back with is bigger than tuition checks.

We're building the jobs. Right there, in Cap-Haïtien. A Tech Center where our graduates don't just finish — they get hired.

Same kids. New ending.

Before Haiti Child Thrive Foundation had a name, it had a quiet beginning.

Our co-founder Randy, a retired infusion nurse who has spent 16 years volunteering in northern Haiti, started doing something simple: paying tuition out of his own pocket, with help from some friends, for children whose families couldn’t afford it. No organization. No nonprofit status. No grant funding. Just a man who couldn’t look the other way.

One child became five. Five became twenty. Eventually, more than 200 children had the chance to attend school because of his quiet generosity.

Now we’ve formalized that mission — with a 501(c)3, a Haitian co-founder, a real program structure, and a community that’s been waiting for exactly this. We’re building something lasting. We’d be honored to have you build it with us.
