Curt Orlowski Memorial

Curt Orlowski Memorial Taken far too young, Curt Orlowski was killed by a drunk driver on July 3, 2014. All proceeds are split evenly between Curt and Dakota's Memorial Funds.

The Curt Orlowski Memorial and Scholarship Fund were created by his family in 2014. The summer before his sophomore year at Northwood University, Curt and his friend Dakota Gonzales were working at University of Michigan. The afternoon of July 3rd the boys, traveling home after work, were struck and killed by a drunk driver. Curt's family has since started the Curt Orlowski Memorial Scholarship wh

ich gives out three $1,000 scholarships to Tecumseh High School graduating seniors each year. The Tecumseh, MI community was so incredibly generous with their time, kindness, and money, the Orlowski Family decided to found the Curt Orlowski Memorial Scholarship Fund. Dakota Gonzales' family also started a Memorial Fund in Dakota's name, and throughout the year the families put on fundraising events.

Just be kind. It’s that simple. People may not remember your name but they’ll remember what you did.

Thank you Northwood University & the Northwood University Alumni Network.

The Curt Orlowski Memorial Driving Course is BACK!
We are officially bringing the Curt Orlowski Memorial driving course back to the 63rd Northwood University International Auto Show on September 19, 2026, and we have a major challenge for everyone attending!
Come try to steer our pedal cars through a maze of safety cones while wearing specialized impairment goggles. It’s a powerful, unforgettable experience that shows exactly how fast coordination vanishes under the influence.
🏆 The Greek Life & Student Challenge
Calling all Northwood students, fraternities, and sororities! We are calling you out to put your team to the test. Challenge your rival chapters, dorms, or student orgs
🎓 Shout-out to Northwood Alumni
To our incredible Northwood University Alumni network—we need your support to make this event our biggest impact yet! Whether you're back on campus for the auto show or following along from afar, your backing helps us keep this life-saving program running strong for the next generation of Timberwolves.
🤝 Help Us Make It Happen: Sponsorship & Logistics Needs
Last year alone, 800 people took our challenge. To transport all of this heavy safety equipment to the auto show, we need a little help behind the scenes. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all business contributions and sponsorships are 100% tax-deductible!
✨ Our Core Logistics & Equipment Needs:
Truck Rental Sponsor: Help us cover the truck rental needed to pull our fleet.
Trailer Rental Sponsor: Help us secure a trailer to transport the pedal cars and course gear safely.
New Commercial BERG Pedal Cars ($1,500 each): To replace our hard-working older fleet with brand-new BERG models built to handle adult drivers day in and day out.
Ultimate Wish List Goal: A dedicated 6x12 aluminum single-axle trailer so we can easily travel to local high schools, fairs, and community events year-round.
📩 Get Involved & Support
Want to sponsor a pedal car, help with logistics, or support our mission? DM us directly or drop a comment below to partner with us! See you all on September 19th!

Here we are again…another long weekend. THE dreaded long weekend. The long weekend that 12 years ago forever changed the lives of many people. The long weekend that fills us with more anxiety than usual. Curt & Dakota were killed 12 years ago by someone who didn’t care about anything or anyone but himself. At the time of the crash, I’m sure he had no idea it was even a holiday weekend. He chose alcohol.
Curt was choosing life. He was excited to be working. He was excited for his upcoming meeting with the Navy recruiter. He was excited for the future that he was planning. Someone chose to be selfish and took that all away from Curt. And from us.
All choices have consequences. Some are good, some are not so good & some are life ending.
Make good choices this weekend (and every day). Don’t drink or boat and drive. Don’t drive distracted.
Choose life! Choose family! Choose friends!
We miss Curt so much. I wonder how much he would’ve accomplished if he were still here.
Have a safe & happy 4th of July.
DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE!!

I volunteered this afternoon at Good Gatherer’s in Ann Arbor. Area grocery stores donate their produce & non perishables. The bad (moldy, squishy, slimy) produce is separated out & the rest is boxed up to be donated to area food pantry’s. Today we boxed up over 2,000 pounds of produce in 3 hours.
