Yankee Springs Recreational Area: The well maintained riding trails here will take the horse and rider winding around and to the top of Baird Hill, then on to marshes, Duck Lake and Pines Scenic Area to hilly and woodland terrain, through scrub oak, maple, and white, red and Norfolk pine. Along the way, the rider might chance upon red, black and gray squirrels, turkey, and a variety of birds, or the peace and tranquility the woods and open spaces have to offer.

YSTRA Halloween/Members Meeting Weekend Recap!

This past weekend was so much fun! We loved rolling into camp on Friday afternoon and seeing so many people already decorating their campsites and getting ready to enjoy the festivities.

We could not put an event on like this without our volunteers. Cheers to everyone who lent a helping hand. Every task, large or small, helps more than you know. A special thanks to Gary Baumgardner for donating the belt buckles for all of our participants to take home.

It was probably the most beautiful weekend we've had in a long time for this event. Who thought it would be 80* in October!?

For those of you who stayed for the Members meeting & board election: Your board members were all voted back on for another 2 year term. Thank you for your votes! Couldn't attend the meeting? You can find out who your board members are here: https://ystra.org/board-members-%26-history

We hope everyone enjoyed their stay at Yankee. We are already looking forward to next season! Mark your Calendars- This event is the 2nd Saturday in October annually *subject to change- but that is rare!*

This is located on the 6 (yellow) mile trail.
If you use the 6 mile to connect to the 4 mile, you will run across the nest as well. So be aware!

Tomorrow, October 1st means.... THE 9 MILE IS CLOSED TO ALL EQUESTRIANS.
*Until Jan. 1st*

Why?

It's officially archery season here in Michigan. And the 9 mile is located in the Barry State Game Area. This area is closed as of tomorrow and used by those wanting to hunt without any potential disturbance.

Please be respectful and ride where permitted.

The 6 mile, 4 mile & Pines trails are all available year round to equestrians since those trails are located in the Barry Recreational Area. While hunters are also permitted in/ around these trails...they will be expecting to see you unlike those in the game area.

Ride safe, wear bright colors.

We wish everyone a safe hunting and fall riding season! 🍂🍁

Our annual Spooktacular & Members Meeting is coming up quick!

This event is so much fun every year!

When: October 10th
Where: Yankee Springs Equestrian Campground
What: We will have many activities for you to choose from!
Costume contest, campsite decorating contest, riding the haunted trails, evening bonfire, and amazing food (Pot Luck Style!), trick or treating... and more!

Your YSTRA Board will be meeting to finalize the event details later this week- so more to come.
