Yankee Springs Recreational Area: The well maintained riding trails here will take the horse and rider winding around and to the top of Baird Hill, then on to marshes, Duck Lake and Pines Scenic Area to hilly and woodland terrain, through scrub oak, maple, and white, red and Norfolk pine. Along the way, the rider might chance upon red, black and gray squirrels, turkey, and a variety of birds, or the peace and tranquility the woods and open spaces have to offer.

*Down Tree Notice*
June 2nd, 2026

We have received reports of a downed tree on the 4 mile near the low swamp area.

Currently, it is passable from what riders have shared.
Once it rains however, it may not be since it is in that wet area. We do not advise attempting to go around it if the ground looks wet due to the potential to sink.

Please always ride with caution.

If you see this post- the tree is still there.
This post will be removed once the tree is cleared.

*It is Hay season- many of your volunteers are working hard to get their fields taken care of. During this time, we do ask for patience as we may not get to trail clearing as quickly as we would like.*

Your YSTRA Volunteers were hard at work yesterday clearing the 4, 6 and a good portion of the 9 mile at Yankee!

This was at minimum a 7 hour job completed by our tried and true Walker family. 🫶

BIG Thank you to Ron, Carla, Garret, Amanda & Everett Walker for your hard work out in the heat!

Enjoy your trails, trail riders! This amazing family worked their tails off to make them accessible and safe to you!
