Despite the rain, our Scouts and leaders showed up ready to work, and what a perfect way to celebrate Earth Day.

Today marked the start of something special as we began cleaning and restoring our very own Scout campsite through our partnership with Neversink River Resort. Taking care of the outdoors is what Scouting is all about, and our pack lived that out today. Part 1 of the cleanup was a big success thanks to the teamwork, effort, and commitment to protecting our environment.

Here’s what we accomplished:

• Cleaned debris off the cabin roof
• Cleared trees, branches, and heavy brush
• Cut and stacked firewood
• Began lining the water’s edge with rocks to help protect the shoreline

A huge thank you to the Scouts who put in the hard work today and earned their Tier Earth Day Patch:
Ryan W. and siblings
Connor D.
Emily L.
Thomas B.
Benjamin H.
Jack D.

And thank you to our dedicated leaders who led by example:
Kevin L.
Elizabeth L.
Steve H.
Jesse B.
Erik B.
Wayne S.

A special thank you to Elizabeth L. for providing pizza for everyone, it was well deserved after a full day of hard work. And an extra special thank you to Kevin L. for bringing his excavator. We wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much without your help.

Earth Day is about making a difference, and today our Scouts did exactly that, improving the land, working together, and building something they can be proud of for years to come.

This is just the beginning. 🌎

Pack 1059 – Spring Campout Recap at Camp Bullowa

This past weekend, Pack 1059 headed out to Camp Bullowa in Stony Point for our Spring Campout — and it was one to remember.

From the moment we arrived Friday evening, scouts and families jumped right into setting up the Webelos campsite, working together to get tents up and our cooking area ready. Dinner Friday night was a highlight — a big pot of chili cooked right over the fire. There’s nothing like a warm meal after a long week, especially when it’s made together as a pack.

We wrapped up the night with a relaxed campfire — s’mores, stories, and a great chance for everyone to unwind and enjoy being outdoors.

Saturday was a full day of activities. Scouts had the opportunity to participate in archery, practice their aim, and build confidence on the range. One of the biggest hits of the weekend was the STEM activity — launching soda bottle water rockets. Watching those rockets take off had everyone excited and engaged.

After lunch, scouts learned boating safety and then hit the water for an afternoon of canoeing and fishing. Whether they were paddling out on the lake or casting a line from shore, it was great to see everyone trying something new and enjoying the experience.

Dinner Saturday night was another camp favorite — foil pack meals cooked over the fire. Scouts helped prepare their own meals, learning outdoor cooking skills while making something they could be proud of. We closed out the night with a campfire and s’mores.

Sunday morning, the pack worked together to break down camp and make sure we left the site better than we found it — living out the principles of Leave No Trace.

Overall, it was a fantastic weekend filled with teamwork, outdoor adventure, and great memories. We had a solid turnout, but we’d love to see even more families join us next time — these are the experiences that make scouting special.

Thank you to all the scouts, families, and leaders who helped make this campout a success.
