At Harrisburg Christian Performing Arts Center, we believe the stage is only one place where stories and faith come to life. 💙

Our Executive Director enjoys writing devotional reflections inspired by everyday moments, and in honor of Memorial Day, we wanted to share today’s with you.

We hope it encourages you to pause, reflect, and remember. 🇺🇸✈️

The Sound Above Us ✈️🇺🇸💙

The Blue Angels are out this Memorial Day weekend… and between the roar of the engines and me squinting at the sky trying to get a decent photo 😅✈️, I realized that sound was stirring more than the clouds.

There’s something about that sound.

You hear it before you see it.

The roar.
The precision.
The sky suddenly demanding your attention.

And for a moment… everybody looks up.

As I watched them streak across the clouds, I thought about Memorial Day.

Not just the long weekend.
Not just my camera trying its absolute best under cloudy skies. 😅☁️✈️

But the reason behind it.

Memorial Day isn’t simply about celebrating freedom.

It’s about remembering that freedom has always carried a cost.

Jesus said in John 15:13 (NLT):

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Those words point us first to Christ… the ultimate sacrifice made out of love. ✝️💗

And they also remind us why we pause on Memorial Day to honor those who gave their lives in service to others and to this country. 🇺🇸

Watching those planes overhead, I was reminded that remembrance matters.

Because gratitude fades when we stop remembering.

Maybe that’s part of why moments like this matter… because they make us look up.

And maybe Memorial Day is our reminder to pause… to give thanks… and to hold close both the freedoms we enjoy and the sacrifices that helped make them possible.

Some things deserve more than a passing glance.

Today, may we enjoy the blessings of freedom… while holding gratitude close for the sacrifices behind it. 💙🇺🇸✈️

HCPAC Youth Summer Camp 2026 will be held at Charlton Church, located at:

Our 11-week summer camp season begins Monday, June 8, 2026, and we are so grateful for this welcoming space where students can learn, grow, create, and shine all summer long. ☀️🎭

We are especially honored to partner with Charlton Church as we continue moving forward in our Stage Goes With Us campaign — bringing the heart of HCPAC Youth into community spaces where students can build confidence, creativity, friendships, and life skills both on and off the stage.

🌞 We’re still looking for a few AMAZING people to join our Summer Camp team! 🎭

HCPAC Youth is hiring for our 2026 Summer Camp Staff, and we have just a couple positions left. 👀

If you (or someone you know) loves working with kids and wants a meaningful, fun, and faith-filled summer—keep reading… 👇

Our camp serves students in grades K–8 and is all about helping them grow in confidence, creativity, teamwork, and character. 💛

Each week includes:
🎭 Theatrical productions
🎨 Arts & crafts
🎶 Music
⚽ Games & outdoor play
🧪 STEAM activities
…and a whole lot of energy and laughter 😅

No theater experience required!
We’re simply looking for people who:
✔️ Love working with kids
✔️ Are dependable and team-oriented
✔️ Are comfortable with Christian prayer & devotions
✔️ Are 18+ and able to obtain PA clearances

🕒 Schedule:
Monday–Friday between 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (varies by role)

We LOVE getting to celebrate our students beyond the HCPAC stage! 🎭

This week, we had the chance to attend a student’s school performance—and it was such a joy to see him shine!

A big thank you to his family, who generously gifted tickets so our team could be there to cheer him on. That kind of thoughtfulness means so much. 💛

We truly wish we could be at every performance our students are part of. While that’s not always possible, we are always so grateful when families invite us into these moments.

We are so honored to be recognized as a Community Cornerstone in the Hershey region. 🧡💙

This one means a lot—because it reflects the heart of what we hope families experience when they walk through our doors.

And we’re grateful to be sharing the stage with other businesses who are showing up for our community in meaningful ways. 🎭

Update from Spreadsheet Land (Hershey Edition)

The Macaroni KID Family Favorite results were supposed to go live yesterday.

Instead, I am currently buried under spreadsheets, tabs, and coffee.

BUT… while the main awards are taking just a liiiittle longer to finalize (because you absolutely showed up)… I could not wait another second to share something really special.

🎭 Backstage Clean-Out at HCPAC!

Beginning tomorrow, we are cleaning out our backstage area at HCPAC — and we have LOTS of lumber that needs to go!

If you’re interested in taking some, please text our Executive Director at 717-739-9078.

📣 Drama teachers & theatre friends — pass the word!
As part of this process, we are also downsizing many of our set pieces and will be making them available to other ministries and theatre programs for a donation to our small nonprofit ministry.
