Middletown -DE- Alumnae Deltas The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter was chartered on April 27, 2014 by 26 talented and visionary women.

- Committed to SERVE Delta Sigma Theta is an international public service sorority, dedicated to a program of sharing membership skills and organizational services in the public interest. All of these women had already accepted an active responsibility and commitment to making their community a better place in which to live. Therefore, it was perhaps prophetic that these women, who already had a common bond, would decide to come together as a unified force and tackle issues of the citizens of the Middletown, Odessa, Townsend and Delaware City areas. Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter was the sixth chapter of Delta Sigma Theta established in the state of Delaware. As we continue to grow, we stay focused on our mission of sisterhood, scholarship and service, committing to staying the course as agents of change. Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate what becomes possible when girls have access to the resources they need.

In Chérette, Haiti, that support looks like clean water and quality education through the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Elementary School. Here in our community, it looks like H.E.R. Space—a special closet within middle schools providing free period products, hygiene essentials, and self-care resources so girls can move through their school day with confidence and dignity.

Though separated by miles, these efforts share one purpose: removing barriers so girls can learn, grow, and lead.

In recognition of International Day of the Girl Child, we’re highlighting three powerful advocates — Graça Machel, Sonita Alizadeh, and Memory Banda — whose work demonstrates the impact of education, advocacy, and youth-led change.

In Chérette, Haiti, the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Elementary School combines quality education with access to clean water. Here at home, the HER Space closets at Everett Meredith Middle School and Louis L. Redding Middle School will provide girls with free period products, hygiene essentials, and self-care resources.

From education and clean water abroad to menstrual equity at home, investing in girls creates opportunities that can transform generations.

Sorors gathered for a meaningful moment of reflection and chose a word of the season as a personal reminder of what we want to carry with us in the months ahead.

From trailblazing as Elon’s first Black Homecoming Queen to serving as a charter member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on campus, Soror Robertson’s impact continues to shape history.

This is an opportunity for youth ages 5-22
to take a proactive step toward understanding their heart health. Early screening can help identify concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed.

FSLL supports nearly 5,000 students across 50 chapters, and Soror Smith’s impact has been felt deeply through her service on the Advisor’s Council for Mu Pi at UD since 2022 and her previous role with Epsilon Alpha at Delaware State University in 2021.
