✨ VIPs. Very Impactful People. ✨

For the first time, our annual event will include a VIP – Very Impactful Person Reception, celebrating the individuals whose leadership, generosity, and commitment have made a meaningful difference across the communities we serve.

We’re honored to welcome and celebrate them ...and incredibly grateful to our partners at Duke Energy for hosting and making this special reception possible. A special thanks to Abigail Melampy for her leadership and commitment to our community and the Foundation's mission.

Because communities don’t become stronger by accident.
They become stronger because people and businesses choose to make an impact.

Here’s to the VIPs who do just that! 🖤 💛

Today, we remember and honor the lives lost, the heroes, and the families forever changed on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

As we reflect on this solemn anniversary, our friends at the Sorg Opera House and Middletown Lyric Theatre are hosting a special, free commemorative production of Sarah Tuft’s 110 Stories. It's a powerful way for our community to come together in remembrance, reflection, and unity.

Check out the original post below for all the details on tonight's performance, and please join us in supporting local arts and community healing.

Twenty-five years later, September 11th still carries a weight that is difficult to put into words.
For many of us, we can still remember exactly where we were when we heard the news. We remember the disbelief, the heartbreak, and the feeling that the world had suddenly changed. But we also remember how people reached for one another and how, for a time, we were simply Americans standing together.
Tonight, it means a great deal to us to open the doors of the Sorg for 110 Stories—to sit together as a community, remember the lives lost, honor the heroes, and reflect on the families who have carried that loss for 25 years.
Some stories deserve to be told.
Some names deserve to never be forgotten.
And some moments in our history deserve to be remembered together.
We hope you’ll join us tonight. There is something meaningful about being in the same room, sharing these stories and remembering together.

Tonight’s performance is free and open to the public, but general admission tickets are required. There is a six-ticket limit per household. Tickets will be available at the door the night of the performance only if there are still tickets available.

❤️ Remembering a True Community Superhero: Mary Maurer (1921–2026) ❤️

For 105 incredible years, Mary Maurer blessed our world with her boundless energy, unmatched generosity, leadership and unwavering commitment to others. To the Foundation, Mary was more than a loyal volunteer, donor, and Legacy Society member—she was family.

While we are heartbroken by her passing, Mary’s remarkable spirit will continue to uplift our community for generations to come through her enduring philanthropy and The Mary Maurer Award.

This prestigious award honors exceptional local volunteers between the ages of 30 and 50 who demonstrate outstanding leadership, long-term service impact, or remarkable courage—carrying forward the very values Mary lived by every single day. True to her generous heart, each award recipient designates a $500 contribution to the charity of their choice.

Mary, thank you for showing us what a life of purpose, kindness, and service truly looks like. Your legacy lives on.
