๐ŸŒŸItโ€™s Giving Tuesday!๐ŸŒŸ Today is all about lifting each other up and one of the best ways to make a direct impact right here at home is by supporting the Delaware City Food Closet.

Our local food closet serves families in need throughout the year, and the holiday season is when demand is at its highest. Every contribution, big or small, helps keep shelves stocked and supports our neighbors.โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒŸ What an incredible day of service!

This morning, the MOT Rotary Club & Delaware City Rotary Club partnered with the Food Bank of Delaware to distribute 254 cases of tuna (48 cans each!) to five local organizations through our Rotary District 7630 Grant.

The organizations we supported today included:
โ€ข Salvation Army
โ€ข MOT Senior Center
โ€ข Delaware City Food Closet
โ€ข Sunday Breakfast Mission

๐Ÿ’™ Projects like this are only possible because of the generosity and support of our community. Together, weโ€™re making a difference!

The library ๐Ÿ“š needs our help!!!

We need helping hands through Sunday!

Thanks to the amazing work so far, all of the bases and nearly half the bookcases are now secured to the floor!

Our top priority today is:

โžก๏ธ Moving books onto the installed bookcases
โžก๏ธ Lifting and placing bookcases onto their bases (strong backs needed!)

Huge thanks to Jackson Lodge No. 19 for lending their strength last night! ๐Ÿ’ช

Weโ€™ve still got some painting, hanging signs, and other finishing touches, but we can't move forward until the bookcases are cleared.

๐Ÿšช Dropping by? If doors are locked, just call 302-834-4148 for entry.

We are so grateful for our incredible volunteers and community! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Grateful for an Incredible First Year! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Itโ€™s hard to believe our first year as the Delaware City Rotary Club is already behind us and what a meaningful and inspiring journey itโ€™s been.

As the clubโ€™s inaugural Chair, I want to thank each of you for your dedication, compassion, and willingness to jump in wholeheartedly. In just 10 months, we proved what a small but mighty group of Rotarians can accomplish together:

๐Ÿ“š Supporting students through backpack drives, book donations, and library box installations
๐ŸŽ Celebrating educators with a Wawa-sponsored appreciation event
๐Ÿ’™ Volunteering at the Food Bank, wrapping gifts for UNICEF, collecting toiletries, and ringing bells for the Salvation Army
๐Ÿ”ฅ Serving at Delaware City Day, the Fire House Open House, and hosting both a coat drive and a holiday tree sale
๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Raising awareness for ovarian cancer with โ€œTurn the Town Tealโ€ in partnership with Town Hall

Each of these efforts reflects our deep commitment to Service Above Self and this is only the beginning!

To our members: thank you for your spirit, your time, and your trust. To our partners: thank you for walking this journey with us. And to the MOT Rotary Club, Celeste Bevans, and John Nanni: your mentorship and encouragement made all the difference; we are so grateful.

As I pass the torch, Iโ€™m thrilled to welcome Autumn as our new Chair. Her enthusiasm, heart, and leadership are exactly what we need as we step into year two and I know the future of our club is in great hands!

Hereโ€™s to the next chapter, and to continuing the good work weโ€™ve started together!

With gratitude,
Crystal

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Commemorating Juneteenth ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
Today, the MOT Rotary Club Rotary District 7630 joins communities across the United States in commemorating Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the U.S. and honors the enduring strength, culture, and contributions of African Americans.

On this important day, we reflect on our shared commitment as Rotarians to promote peace, advance equity, and create lasting change in our communities and around the world.

Let us use this day not only to celebrate progress but to continue building a world where freedom, dignity, and opportunity are realities for all.
