To provide a forum that initiates and encourages camaraderie between different ages and socioeconomic and cultural groups through athletic competition and fair play. The Nutmeg State Games, through the venue of competitive sports, seeks to contribute positively to our athletes' physical, mental, and emotional growth. Participation in athletics provides opportunities to develop leadership, hard work, self-confidence, and mental and physical toughness. Competitive athletics lays the foundation for positive lifelong habits that contribute to a healthy lifestyle and teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for others. The Nutmeg State Games includes participants from all religious, racial, and socio-economic groups contributing to a genuinely statewide Connecticut event. MORE THAN JUST A GAME: Personal Development, Sportsmanship, Physical Fitness, Teamwork, Volunteerism. WHO: Since the inception of the “Games” in 1989, more than 150,000 amateur athletes have participated in the “Games”. The Nutmeg State Games is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing a forum that initiates and encourages camaraderie between different ages, socioeconomic and cultural groups through athletic competition and the Olympic spirit. The event assists in developing physical fitness and promotes positive, healthy activities for the participants, their families, and their communities. WHERE: The City of Middletown will host the " Games " in 2025 and 2026. A fun fact is that The City of New Britain has hosted the "Games" longer than any other City in Connecticut (1991 - 1994, 2010 - 2020). Competitions will also occur around Connecticut at top colleges, high schools, and municipal venues. WHEN: July 14th through August 7th, 2025. PARTICIPANTS: More than 8,000+ participants, 700+ coaches, 600+ officials, 1000+ volunteers, and over 20,000+ spectators will take part in the 2025 Nutmeg State Games, representing every one of the 169 cities and towns in the State of Connecticut. Participants range from six to eighteen years of age. Additional Events: Connecticut Pickleball Series, Northeast Football Showcase, and Connecticut Masters' Games
