lues sportsmanship, effort, and achievement. To motivate personal development in physical fitness and health through attainable goals. To provide a forum that initiates and encourages camaraderie between different ages and socioeconomic and cultural groups through athletic competition and fair play. The Nutmeg State Games, through the venue of competitive sports, seeks to contribute positively to our athletes' physical, mental, and emotional growth. Participation in athletics provides opportunities to develop leadership, hard work, self-confidence, and mental and physical toughness. Competitive athletics lays the foundation for positive lifelong habits that contribute to a healthy lifestyle and teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for others. The Nutmeg State Games includes participants from all religious, racial, and socio-economic groups contributing to a genuinely statewide Connecticut event. MORE THAN JUST A GAME: Personal Development, Sportsmanship, Physical Fitness, Teamwork, Volunteerism. WHO: Since the inception of the “Games” in 1989, more than 150,000 amateur athletes have participated in the “Games”. The Nutmeg State Games is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing a forum that initiates and encourages camaraderie between different ages, socioeconomic and cultural groups through athletic competition and the Olympic spirit. The event assists in developing physical fitness and promotes positive, healthy activities for the participants, their families, and their communities. WHERE: The City of Middletown will host the " Games " in 2025 and 2026. A fun fact is that The City of New Britain has hosted the "Games" longer than any other City in Connecticut (1991 - 1994, 2010 - 2020). Competitions will also occur around Connecticut at top colleges, high schools, and municipal venues. WHEN: July 14th through August 7th, 2025. PARTICIPANTS: More than 8,000+ participants, 700+ coaches, 600+ officials, 1000+ volunteers, and over 20,000+ spectators will take part in the 2025 Nutmeg State Games, representing every one of the 169 cities and towns in the State of Connecticut. Participants range from six to eighteen years of age. Additional Events: Connecticut Pickleball Series, Northeast Football Showcase, and Connecticut Masters' Games

Last Sunday we hosted our 2026 Northeast Football Showcase at Day Hill Dome in Windsor, CT 🏈

We got almost a hundred athletes where these 5 won the Gold Medal for these drills:

40 Yard Dash: Ja'leel Smith (4.68 sec)
Pro Agility 5-10-5: Michael Simlin III (4.12 sec)
3 Cone L Drill: Jake Hill (7.00 sec)
Vertical Jump: Gabriel Mensah (29.6 inches)
Broad Jump: Christopher Love Flonard (9'8'' feet/inches)

We are proud to recognize Parker Kennedy as the 2025 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games Athlete of the Year for his outstanding achievements in track and field and his exemplary character both on and off the runway!
A sophomore at H.C. Wilcox Technical High School, Parker maintains a 3.8 GPA while competing year-round in long jump and triple jump. Over five years in the sport—and three years competing in the Nutmeg State Games—he has earned more than 35 medals across state, invitational, and Games competitions.
In 2025, Parker captured 1st Place in the Nutmeg State Games Long Jump (19’ 6¼”) and 3rd Place in Triple Jump (38’ 5½”). He is a State Champion in long jump and has surpassed the 20-foot milestone with a personal best of 20’ 5”.
Parker trains with the Lebron Athletic Club under Coach Nick Lebron and credits his continued growth to disciplined preparation, mentorship, strong academic support from his teachers, and the unwavering encouragement of his family.
His dedication, resilience, and humility make him a truly deserving recipient of this honor.
