Talk about bringing the heat!
Tonight, Tyler Christopher and his full band lit up the stage at the Sorg with an incredible Elvis- performance complete with a powerhouse horn section that had the crowd rocking from start to finish.
From classic hits to high-energy showmanship, it was a reminder of why live entertainment is so special and why the Sorg continues to be a destination for unforgettable experiences.
There’s always something happening at the Sorg Opera House—concerts, theater, films, community events, and more. If you haven’t visited lately, you’re missing out on all the excitement!

We get a lot of questions about what’s happening when the lights aren’t on and the doors aren’t open. While we can’t give away all our secrets, we can tell you that things are definitely happening!
Our friends from Middletown Lyric Theatre have been working hard on The Nance , helping bring some exciting plans to life. And this Saturday, we’re thrilled to welcome Tyler Christopher back to the Sorg for what promises to be a terrific evening of entertainment.
Just because the building looks quiet from the outside doesn’t mean we’re standing still. Behind those historic walls, ideas are being developed, events are being planned, and volunteers are working hard to keep the momentum going.
Stay tuned… there’s always something brewing at the Sorg Opera House!

Phew… what a week it’s been around here at the Sorg! 🎭✨

We kicked things off with Thursday’s incredible CBI event Middletown Rocks rolled right into Friday night’s Rocking with Rotary featuring The Ultimate Doors Tribute, and we’re finishing strong TONIGHT with Lighting Express – The Everly Brothers Tribute! 🎸🎶

Three events. Hundreds of smiling faces. Countless volunteers, performers, partners, and supporters helping keep this historic place alive and thriving.

People like to ask me what it takes to keep a 135-year-old opera house moving forward — well, this is it. Long days, late nights, lots of teamwork, and a community that continues to show up for the arts in downtown Middletown. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who walked through our doors this week. Whether you bought a ticket, shared a post, volunteered your time, or simply cheered us on… you’re part of the reason the Sorg keeps shining.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers out there — the women whose strength, sacrifice, love, and guidance shape generations.

Today we especially honor the matriarch of our family, Susan Jennie Gruver Sorg (pictured here in 1920). A woman from a generation that understood hard work, resilience, faith, and family. The kind of woman who helped build the foundation the rest of us stand on today.

We carry deep respect and gratitude for the mothers and grandmothers who came before us, whose quiet strength and determination helped shape not only families, but entire communities.

Here’s to all the moms — past and present — thank you for the love you give, the sacrifices you make, and the legacy you leave behind.
