Hi all - If you have a truck and some spare time, Our Daily Bread desperately needs your help. Each week our organization, which is the only non-profit that distributes food to the hungry in our community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To meet the growing community need, ODB does 12 large pickups each week and rescues between 8,000 and 10,000 pounds of food that would otherwise be thrown in a dumpster. That food is distributed to our neighbors who are struggling with food insecurity. We have a terrific group of drivers but right now we have a few drivers who are unavailabe over the next few weeks. We are really short these days and we are afraid we will not be able to make some of these important pickups without your help. Hundreds of families, children, and seniors rely on this food each week and we need your help. The need right now is urgent

If you have a truck and can spare an hour or two a week, please reach out to us and we will share more information on how the process works and how you can help. You can write to our Director, Brian Farragher, at [email protected] or give him a call at 707.931.9964. Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated and will make an immediate difference in the lives of your neighbors. Thanks so much for your consideration.

Last Wednesday night at ODB we were thrilled to be visited by Girls Scout Troop 78, who served as runners and servers (they also donated a ton of Girl Scout Cookies!). They were standing in for the Silver Lake Elementary Team who we thought were taking the night off given the school year was coming to a close. Shortly after the Girl Scouts arrived, the faculty from Silver Lake rolled in to serve one last time. A sweet benefit, of the scheduling mix up was the opportunity for the Silver Lake team to serve with many of their former students. A nice accident. See pictures below of Wednesday evening's volunteers.

Our Daily Bread is always grateful to our service groups. Big thanks this week to Baymont Farms Community, St. Paul's UMC, Gospel Life Church, Silver Lake Elementary School, Girl Scout Troop 78, Silver Maple Farms Community, Odessa National Community and Premier Charities for once again stepping up to support our guests.

On Monday our ODB Cooks prepared a delicious chicken meal that was served by the Baymont Farms Community. The meal was a big hit and 315 meals went out the door that night. Great Job!

A big shout out to one of our newest food partners, Mountaire Farms! Through their charitable giving program, Mountaire Cares, they are providing ODB with hundreds of pounds of fresh chicken once a month! Then our volunteers package it up and make it available in our outdoor pantry area or designate it for meal service. Mountaire is a faithbased company and established Mountaire Cares to put their faith in action by supporting the work that local non-profits and charitable groups do. Through community leadship, their team works hard to give back to people in need. We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Mountaire Farms.

Congratulations to Our Daily Bread Volunteer Lois Davis for being selected as the Governor's Volunteer Service Award for 2026. Lois got an individual volunteer award for being a true conerstone of Our Daily Bread. She has volunteered for the past three years starting with the Bethesda UMC serving monthly meals and later stepping into food rescue, sorting and processing. Over the past year, Lois has become a resident expert, running the Tuesday and Friday large food donation distributions and regularly helping with Wednesday morning cleaning and organizing -- one of the main reasons ODB looks so neat and well run. Through her faithful service, Lois directly supports ODB's mission to feed people with dignity and compassion in a welcoming environment. Thank you for all you do, Lois, and congratulations on a well deserved award!

Last Friday morning, the dining room was once again converted to a grocery store so over 75 of our closest fiends could stop in and shop at ODB. Then before noon we flip the room again returning to a dining room for dinner. Friday we got over 3500 pounds of food thanks to Acme, Giant, the Local Buzz, Sprouts, Target and Walmart. The Food Bank routinely dispatches a truck to help us with the pick ups at Sprouts and Target. It is great interacting with all our guests and feeding 75 people and many of their families, friends and neighbors.
