Full Circle Moment! Our students are doing incredible things and sometimes they help us rediscover something important.
When our recent scholarship winner shared that she is the President of the Interact Club at Appoquinimink High School, it set off a search that led to rediscovering a Rotary youth club with a history going back to 2011.
During the COVID years, many schools operated in hybrid or online formats, and unfortunately a lot of club data across organizations became inactive especially when advisor information was not resubmitted. With student leadership changing every July, itâs easy for those details to get lost.
After some intense research, Rotary International confirmed the clubâs active status and, with the support of District Governor Dale Kerns, officially reissued the club certificationâbackdated to its original charter date of February 28, 2011.
Even more special, President-Elect Kristen Newell Krenzer who originally founded the Interact Club is also the incoming MOT Rotary Club President for 2026â2027. What a wonderful way to begin her year of âCreating Lasting Impact.â
With support from the District and our Assistant Governor, Kristen presented the students with their official certificate and Interact pins.
The club meets in Room D212 and is supported by two dedicated advisors:
Mrs. Susan Sappington and Ms. Alexis Kimpton.
The students have already been involved in several service projects, including:
⢠Color A Smile
⢠Wreaths Across America
⢠Food Drive for the MOT Senior Center
⢠Paracord bracelets for Operation Gratitude
They are also welcoming students interested in becoming future officers.
Looking ahead, plans are already underway to connect Interact students with Rotary service projects and opportunities such as scholarships, funding, and RYLA.
This is exactly what Rotary youth service is about- mentorship, leadership, and community impact.
If your club ever needs extra support or resources, please reach out to your Assistant Governor. Theyâre always happy to help support our clubs.
