We welcome and celebrate ALL students and families, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, background, identity, or beliefs.

We believe every person has inherent worth and deserves not only a great public education, but also the freedom to live authentically, practice their beliefs, and be themselves without fear of judgment, discrimination, or ridicule.

Our schools and community should be places where diversity is celebrated, differences are respected, and everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.

You belong. You matter. You are welcome here.

Good Morning Appoquinimink!

It’s time to work “9 to 5” for a great cause!

The Appoquinimink Education Association is planning a fun 9 to 5 Day to celebrate the legacy of Dolly Parton and her incredible commitment to early literacy. Through programs like her Imagination Library, Dolly has helped put books into the hands of millions of children and reminded us of something educators already know: access to books can open a world of possibilities for a child.

We want to bring a little of that spirit to the Appoquinimink School District.

Our goal is to raise money to help our youngest learners who may not otherwise be able to purchase a book at their school book fair. Every child should have the excitement of walking through a book fair, finding a book that catches their eye, and being able to take it home.

We are asking people to consider donating just $5. With a community as large as ours, those $5 donations can quickly add up and put a lot of books into the hands of our students.

And because this is Dolly, we might as well have some fun with it!

On 9 to 5 Day, wear some pink. Find yourself a fabulous blonde wig. Add a little rhinestone sparkle to your outfit. Go big or keep it simple. We could all use a little more fun and sparkle in our day.

At the heart of it, though, is a simple goal: educators and the community coming together to make sure more of our students have books of their own.

$5. One book. One student. One opportunity to fall in love with reading.

More information about how to donate and participate is on the attached flyer.

BREAKING NEWS: The Appoquinimink Education Association has a new contract!!!

After months of negotiations, teachers and specialists in the Appoquinimink School District are celebrating a major union victory tonight after the signing of a new 3-year labor agreement that will deliver small pay raises this year and improve working conditions for more than 1,100 public school educators for years to come.

While the Appoquinimink School District is currently grappling with financial issues, the new contract does include a 1% pay raise this year – along with a promise to return to the bargaining table to renegotiate educator pay in years 2 and 3.

In the meantime, teachers, counselors, nurses, social workers, school psychologists, educational diagnosticians and related service providers will see substantial improvements in the many of the rules that govern their workday.

That includes better-protected professional time, a stronger and more collaborative response to student behavioral issues, stronger protections against punitive reassignments, expanded access to tuition reimbursement and stipends, as well as clearer rules for coaches, advisors, and other educators earning extra pay for extra responsibilities.

“Everyone benefits when educators have the time and support they need to plan instruction, analyze student data, communicate with families, complete required documentation and engage in professional growth opportunities,” AEA President Steve Byers said. “While we still have more work to do to deliver the locally funded pay raises our educators deserve, this is a strong start. I want to thank the professionals on both sides of the negotiating table for working to improve the working conditions of our educators and the learning conditions of our students.”

Congratulations AEA!

Together, we’re stronger! Together, our voices will be heard!

Join us for Fund Delaware's Future Kickoff! Together, we're calling for the tools and opportunities that working families need to build a solid, stable future here in the First State.

Learn more about how you can get involved and hear from leaders and advocates.

Delaware’s future depends on a strong public education system where every child—from our youngest learners to our most recent high school graduates—has an opportunity to succeed.

Building a 21st century public education system will not happen on its own. We need to invest in our children and their future now—and make sure every new investment is transparent, accountable, and focused on results.

Fund Delaware’s Future is a statewide alliance that brings together teachers, parents, early educators, business leaders, local nonprofits, and community groups around a shared goal: making Delaware a place where children and families can live and thrive.

Together, we are fighting for high-quality, affordable pre-K and early childhood programs that support children’s development, help them enter kindergarten ready to learn, and allow working parents to make ends meet without forcing them into debt to pay for childcare.

We are fighting for a high-quality K-12 school system where every child receives the reading and writing support needed to reach grade level and every educator earns a fair wage so Delaware can attract and retain qualified teachers.

We are fighting for safe and healthy public school buildings where every classroom is free of mold and lead and it’s safe to drink from every water fountain.

And we are fighting for a school system that invests in career and technical education as well as college preparation—so every student can graduate with a real path to a good-paying job, whether or not a four-year college is right for them.

A strong Delaware economy can only be achieved with a strong school system. Investing now in the education of future Delawareans will reduce costs for working families, support businesses with a stable and skilled workforce, keep families in the First State, and prepare our children to compete in a 21st century economy.
