Experiential learning has been in full swing over the past few weeks in the MHS Ag Wing! 🌳 🐑

⭐️Today, our Nursery Landscape team visited University of Delaware Botanic Gardens for valuable team skills training with Mr. Andrew Adams. They learned how to safely operate equipment, repair and run irrigation, and techniques for planting and maintaining shrubs and perennials. Thank you to UDBG for this learning opportunity! 🌼

⭐️Earlier this week, Advanced Plant Science students deployed beneficial insects in our greenhouse as a part of their Integrated Pest Management unit. These biological controls will keep our poinsettia crop safe over the course of the next 6-8 weeks. 🌱🐞

⭐️Last Friday, our sheep were visited by Dr. Pesato and team. Senior Animal Science students were able to watch and ask questions during a physical exam and ultrasound on Amaryllis, who hadn’t been feeling her best. After a round of medication, she is feeling much better! And as an added bonus, 2023 MHS FFA alum Laurel Clark was a part of the team who visited to care for Amaryllis! It’s always great to see our Cavaliers working in the field. 💙🩺🐾

Over the last two days, our officer team attended the 2026 DE FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training. The officers participated and engaged in workshops lead by Delaware State Officers and alumni to teach us collaborative leadership skills.
The team thoroughly enjoyed building lasting connections with fellow chapter officers from across the entire state! To say the least we had a great time!💙💛 Delaware FFA

We wrapped up the event on a high by taking home 4th place out of 12 teams in Opening and Closing Ceremonies!🎉👏

Consider applying to be a committee chair! Committee chairs work alongside our FFA officers to plan monthly meetings and activities for one of our three committees: Growing Leaders, Strengthening Agriculture, or Building Communities. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any officer or advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved within our chapter, applications are due October 6th!💛💙

Last night, we held our first official chapter meeting of the year!

Members participated in our annual “Day in the Life of a Farmer” meeting, competing in relay-style events to see which team could finish the fastest!

Throughout the evening, members took on a variety of fun events, including rounding up chickens, stacking straw, making breakfast and dinner, and so much more! The night was definitely filled with plenty of fun and laughter.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our first meeting such a great time! We hope to see you all again at our next chapter meeting!

It’s been a very busy start to the week in the MHS Ag Wing! 🐑 🌱

On Monday, we welcomed the first ewe lamb of the season. On Tuesday, we welcomed a ram lamb, who was nearly 3 times the size of the first one! Both are healthy and doing well, along with their mothers.

Today, we unloaded 400 mums and nearly 300 poinsettias! It was a team effort all around - thanks to those who purchased and picked up mums from us. Poinsettias info will be coming in late October!

We’re finishing the day with our September Member Meeting. Stay tuned for a recap of this fun event!

Congratulations to all of the teams who competed at Big E! Our members had such a great time at the fair, showing off their skills, making memories, and having fun along the way. We’re so proud of everyone who participated and grateful for all the memories and moments shared together! 💙💛

Today, we held our FFA interest meeting! Students were introduced to the officers, given a quick introduction about our FFA chapter, and participated in fun, interactive games with their peers. We’re grateful to everyone who came out and joined in the fun, we loved seeing all the new faces!

Reminders: We have our “Day In The Life Of A Farmer” meeting September 23rd, from 6-7:30 pm. Keep up with our social media and Schoology page for more updates and information, we hope to see you there!

Join us for our FFA Interest Meeting! On September 9th, 3:05-3:30. Located in Mrs. Clay’s room (5047). There will be games and opportunities to get more familiar with our chapter. It’s a great way to become more involved and bond with our officer team and your peers! No sign up required to attend. Don’t miss out!

What an amazing Freshman Day at MHS! Our FFA officers had a blast welcoming the newest class. They spent the day meeting students, introducing themselves to the applied ag classes, talking about our chapter and why students should join FFA. It was awesome to see so many of you excited about getting involved and learning more about our FFA chapter.

We hope to see you soon at our interest meeting on the 9th, the meeting will start right after school from 3:05-3:30! More details will be coming soon.
