I eat 'em for breakfast every day in July and plant many thousands of seeds. And Juneberries in Spring, pawpaws and black gums in September, persimmons in October. Come join Uncle Ray and His Pit Spitters. Our Bloomington Parks No Mow Zones have far more cherries, persimmons, and juneberries than Callery pears.

Tomorrow morning Monday, June 1st at 9 am at Crestmont Park we will grub out pear and mulberry seedlings and sow native tree seed into the openings. Come join us at the 13th Street Parking lot here in Bloomington. This is part of our ongoing Oak Seedling Care series that is in its third year. I am going to Crestmont Park this morning to work in the No Mow Zone Direct Seeding area. When I find seedlings of Callery pear and other invasive woody plants, I will grub them out by the roots and sow black cherry seeds. Keep tree seed in your pocket! :)

The term "Invasive Removal" implies a lot of unnecessary and unproductive work. In most cases killing them is sufficient. Removing the deadwood requires a great bit of labor and expense is is not usually needed. Spend your time and energy killing weeds, that is sufficient.
