Native wildflowers look beautiful and work hard. These seasonal blooms nourish pollinators, support wildlife, and help sustain the healthy ecosystems we all depend on.

Help them do their work by planting native whenever you can, stay on trails when you hike, and work to protect green space with your friends at MCF.

Where are your favorite places to look for wildflowers?

In a world of constant notifications and busy schedules, one of the greatest gifts the outdoors offers is the chance to simply be still. Find a shady spot beneath the trees, listen to the birds, watch the breeze move through the leaves, and give yourself ten quiet minutes.

Protecting open spaces means protecting opportunities for wonder, reflection, and the wildlife that rely on us remembering we share the planet.

Where's your favorite place to sit quietly and see what unfolds?

School is almost closed for summer, but outside, learning never stops.

Every walk, backyard adventure, or park visit offers opportunities to discover something new. Try homemade nature scavenger hunts, exploring nature identification apps, and checking out MCF's free community programs at Scudder Preserve.

As summer begins, unplug a little, explore a little more, and let the outdoors become your family's new favorite classroom!

Today is National Nature Photography Day! Nature photography is a wonderful way to get outside, quiet your mind, and immerse yourself in the world around you.

MCF is proud to have several passionate nature photographers among our staff, board, and volunteers, but today we would like to recognize one person in particular. Because the incomparably talented Emilee Carton generously shares her work with us, MCF can bring the wonders of our region to audiences around the world. Thank you, Emilee, for your dedication to your craft and generosity in sharing it.

โ€œWhen my photos make someone say, โ€˜I never knew these animals lived here!โ€™ I realize Iโ€™m making a difference. What I experience in nature is here for us all to enjoy, if we choose to protect it.โ€

Happy Get Outdoors Day!

Celebrated each year on the second Saturday in June, National Get Outdoors Day encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to connect with nature. As part of Great Outdoors Month, many parks and public lands are offering free admission and special activities this weekend.

Monmouth County is fortunate to have incredible access to parks, trails, beaches, farms, and natural areas. That access exists because generations of community members have worked to protect and preserve these special places.

Today, we celebrate the outdoors and the people who make them possible. Thank you for supporting conservation and helping . ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š

How will you spend Get Outdoors Day?

Nature wastes nothing! This fallen tree is the beginning of a new chapter for this forest.

Moss acts like a sponge, trapping moisture and creating the perfect environment for fungi, insects, and other decomposers to turn dead wood into rich, nutrient-filled soil. Over time, these moss-covered logs become โ€œnurse logs,โ€ providing shade, moisture, and nutrients that help new plants take root and grow. A-moss-ing!

Sound on for glorious birdsong and satisfying crunchy leaves.

Pollinators are the quiet heroes of our ecosystems, helping native plants reproduce, supporting ecosystem health, and contributing billions of dollars to food production each year.

But many pollinator populations are facing challenges from habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change.

We can all be part of the solution. By planting native flowers, shrubs, and trees, you can create valuable habitat that provides food and shelter for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, and other pollinators.

Every native plant added to a garden, yard, or community space helps build a healthier, more resilient landscape for all life.

It's National Trails Day! Celebrate the day by getting outside and enjoying the beginning of the summer season. You can find hiking trails all over the Garden State, but our favorites are at Scudder Preserve. Come see for yourself!

This World Environment Day, remember that we're borrowing nature from our children.

The strongest advocacy is what you can sustainably maintain. Whether you plant native species, volunteer locally, reduce waste, support conservation, or simply spend more time appreciating the outdoors, every action matters. Do what you can, and then keep doing it! ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you for your help to .
