Afternoon All!!!!!!

On behalf of the Peter D. Connerton Jr. Memorial Fund Board of Directors (BOD) we would like to thank our friends, family and the Island Community, residents & businesses, for your ongoing support as demonstrated for this year’s event We will be posting many individual thanks to those involved in the coming days.

We would be remiss if we didn't also thank Chuck Kempenaar & the Kempenaar Clambake Club for hosting us, again. As always, they provided excellent service and were very accommodating to anything we needed. Greatly appreciated!!!!!

This year’s get together was another incredible success that we would never have achieved without your collective backing. We do not have our final net figures yet, but we believe that the Fund finished with close to $13,000.00. These monies will greatly bolster the charity’s ability to continue to do excellent work in the community that we would otherwise not be able to.

We are all eternally grateful for the ongoing support, which aids us giving back in Pete’s name to so many worthy causes.

While the weather outlook currently looks to be on the chilly and windy side it should still be an enjoyable day for all. Make sure to bundle up to ensure the day is comfortable one. The event, as it will predominantly be under roofs & canopies, will go on rain or shine.

Also, we added some more meals for both adults and kids to, hopefully, ensure that anyone that wishes to take part in the suppertime can. We are currently up to 70 Adults and 20 Kids meals. That leaves about 50 Adult/Kids tickets that would include the meal. However, General Admission tickets will always be available.

Here is an update on activities for the kids: The Fund has secured the pictured bounce house from Jumpify Inflatables, giving young attendees a fun way to burn off some energy. The Board of Directors (BOD) sincerely thanks Chris Hyde, owner, and operator of Jumpify Inflatables, for generously providing the bounce house at a greatly reduced price in consideration that this is a charitable event.

Afternoon, all. We are reaching out, again, to ask those who plan to attend if you would consider buying your tickets sooner rather than later.

Currently we have approximately forty-eight people registered to attend including the meal. We will need to get a total to Kempenaar’s for the food by tomorrow afternoon. For anyone who does not have Venmo or would prefer to pay by check please email the fund at [email protected] with your information and we can arrange to pick up the payment. Checks should be made out to the Peter D. Connerton Jr. Memorial Fund.

If you plan to attend under General Admission cost, then that is not an issue, and you can either Venmo or pay at the event.

We will have a DJ, in addition to the Raffles & Silent Auction. We are also working to get a bouncy house for the kids.

We hope you can join us for this family-friendly event and help us in continuing to do needed charitable work in the community in Pete’s name.

Yesterday afternoon, Peter D. Connerton Sr., Vice President of the Peter D. Connerton Jr. Memorial Fund, joined members of the Library Building Committee (LBC) for a tour of the future Middletown Public Library at 110 Enterprise Center. During the visit, he presented a donation from the fund to support the project.

The building is being renovated to best suit the current and future needs of community it will serve. The new library will be approximately twice the size of the existing facility and will offer upgraded programming for its users. Some of these improvements include a dedicated Children’s Room & Children’s Program Room, a Teen Center & Teen Gaming Room, an Innovation Center for hands on learning & creative technology, larger indoor meeting spaces, quiet study & work areas and outdoor spaces for community programs and events. The overhauls are expected to be completed near the end of this December or early January 2027, with a move to the new facility near the end of January and a Grand Opening sometime in early February 2027.

Yesterday, October 2, 2026, Vice President, Peter D. Connerton, Sr., of the Peter D. Connerton, Jr. Memorial Fund Board of Directors (BOD) visited the Martin Luther King Community Center (MLKCC) on Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. Director of Development, Alyson Novick, gave him a tour of the facility which recently went through major renovations. The remodeled facility provides more services and areas for expanded programs, as well as providing needed upgrades to make the facility even more accessible and functional.

In addition to the site visit itself Peter Sr. was there to present a check to the MLKCC to use as they see fit. The BODs of the Peter D. Connerton, Jr. Memorial Fund would like to thank the MLKCC for all they do for the community, on so many levels, and allowing us to play a small part in that.

Additionally, the BODs would like to thank the Community for its ongoing support which has enabled the charity to make this and many other donations to give back to the Island Community in Pete’s memory. For this ability we are truly thankful.
