Officer Mark Wilhelm of the Middletown Police Department was recently recognized with the Pre-Hospital Sudden Cardiac Arrest Save Citation by the New Castle County Department of Public Safety.

Officer Wilhelm responded to a cardiac arrest incident involving a 38-year-old male in full cardiac arrest. Through the combined response of Officer Wilhelm, the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, and New Castle County Paramedics, the patient’s pulse was successfully restored prior to arrival at the hospital.

We are proud to report that the patient made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital.

Officer Wilhelm’s actions exemplify the highest standards of service and dedication to the community. We commend him for his swift response and commitment to preserving life.

Last week our FOP Lodge 20 was able to donate 4 carts worth of nonperishable food items along with a $1,130 donation to Neighborhood House from our No Shave November donations! Thank you to all of those involved!

🚨 Now Hiring: Civilian Background Investigator🚨

The Middletown Police Department is seeking skilled Civilian Background Investigators to conduct comprehensive background checks on potential employees.

👔 This part-time role (up to 25 hours/week) includes:
- Interviewing candidates, references, and others to verify suitability.
- Preparing detailed, confidential reports in line with department policies.
- Preparing reports on candidates for employment consistent with Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) guidelines and MPD policy.

📌 Qualifications:
- 10+ years of investigative or law enforcement experience.
- Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills.

This is an hourly, non-benefited, at-will position. Applicants must pass pre-employment screening and complete a certified Background Investigator course within six months.
