The Federated Youth Foundation has awarded two students the 2026 Charles Van Sickle Endowment Scholarship, each receiving $5,000 to support their educational journeys.

🌟 Emily Elliott of Oconto Falls, a senior at Oconto Falls High School and a member of Oconto Electric Cooperative, plans to attend Marquette University to study political science and business administration.

🌟 Christian Wedig of Richland Center, a homeschool student and member of Richland Electric Cooperative, will attend Pensacola Christian College to pursue humanities and pre-law.

The scholarship, established in honor of longtime cooperative advocate Charles Van Sickle, continues to invest in students with a passion for law and service—especially within the cooperative community.

Congratulations, Emily and Christian!

🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, WECA! 🎉 On this day in 1936, the statewide association serving Wisconsin’s electric cooperatives was incorporated. For 90 years, WECA has supported co-ops across the state—helping deliver reliable power, provide resources, and advocate for the members they serve.

From the early days of rural electrification to today, that mission continues. Thank you to the co-ops, partners, and members who have been part of that work along the way.

Here’s to 90 years—and counting.

A group of Wisconsin electric co-op leaders are in Washington, D.C., this week for NRECA’s Legislative Conference. They joined nearly 2,000 other co-op leaders to meet with members of Congress and federal agencies to advocate for the interest of their local electric cooperatives. Yesterday, they heard from speakers and received valuable insights from policymakers and administration officials. Today they will meet with lawmakers on the Hill to discuss issues important to their local electric cooperatives and their communities.
Key priorities include:
✔️ Streamlining Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to speed disaster recovery
✔️ Strengthening wildfire mitigation efforts
✔️ Advancing permitting reform to modernize infrastructure
✔️ Increasing funding for the Rural Utilities Service loan program

With growing concerns about grid reliability and rising energy demand, these conversations are more important than ever.

Join us in welcoming Christina Henke to WECA! 🎉

Christina started today, April 13, as a compliance specialist, supporting co-ops across Wisconsin alongside Director of Compliance Services Ben Bella. Christina will assist cooperatives in navigating federal, state, and local regulations by developing and maintaining compliance programs, supporting employee training, and helping ensure safe and effective operations.

We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to the impact she’ll make working with our members.

Welcome to the team, Christina! ⚡

WECA’s President and CEO Rob Richard and his wife, Carrie, recently jumped at the only opportunity they had to get a care package to their son who is serving in the Middle East in Operation Epic Fury. Families were given a couple days to drop a box off at the base to be loaded onto a KC-135 Stratotanker. In support of the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 128th Refueling Wing out of Milwaukee, and with the assistance of Congressman Tom Tiffany, they also secured a large box of beef jerky products donated by Jack Link's in New Glarus to be shared with the airmen. Bringing them a little taste of Wisconsin halfway across the globe. Thank you to all members of Milwaukee’s 128th Refueling Wing, and to all U.S. armed forces, for your service to our country. Be safe, and God Bless!
