The Glowing Smiles 5k run / walk and kids fun dash is a fundraiser for the Lina Vergara Memorial Scholarship. Lina had a passion for teaching and caring for everyone’s needs. The scholarship will benefit elementary education students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, who share Lina’s desire to teach and assist others. In addition, the Lina Vergara Memorial Scholarship is also available for s

tudents at the Middleton High School, who are planning to attend a 4-year institution in pursuit of a degree in education.

🎓✨ Celebrating Student Achievement at the 2026 MHS Local Scholarship Night ✨🎓

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Lina Vergara Memorial Scholarship, Beatrice Norman and Abigail de Villiers! Your hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments continue to inspire our community.

The Lina Vergara Memorial Scholarship honors Lina's passion for learning and her belief in the power of education to make a difference in the lives of others. We are proud to support students who will carry those values forward.

A special moment of the evening was seeing Austin Duhr, Lina's nephew, present the scholarship. Austin's connection to the scholarship made the presentation especially meaningful as he recognized two students who exemplify the dedication, leadership, and commitment to education that the scholarship was created to support.
