Sharing an episode of HGTV’s Home Town that’s close to our hearts: Josh shares his experience of being adopted after spending time in foster care as a young child. A beautiful story about the healing and hope that foster and adoptive parents bring to a child’s life. ❤️

May is National Foster Care Month, and we’re sharing some statistics about the foster and kinship children we’ve served this year.

Luke’s Closet saw a 15% increase in the number of children served from April 2026 to April 2025. So far in 2026, 43% of children we serve wear youth size 8, 10/12 or 14/16, and nearly 20% wear adult small or medium sizes.

We’re sharing pictures of a recent donation for a 9-year-old boy. Thank you to our amazing donors and volunteers for helping Luke’s Closet support Dane County foster and kinship children!

One of our dedicated volunteers shared the work of Luke’s Closet with neighbors and family, who responded with clothing and financial donations. Our volunteer used those financial donations to purchase spring and summer pajamas. We’re grateful for this incredibly generous community and their support of Dane County’s foster and kinship children!

Who’s New in Madison (WNIM) selected Luke’s Closet as their service partner for the 2025-2026 academic year, and we’re incredibly grateful for their volunteer and fundraising efforts on our behalf! WNIM recently hosted a mah jongg tournament at the East Side Club with proceeds going to Luke’s Closet.

All proceeds go towards providing clothing and shoes to children in Dane County foster and kinship families. Thank you, WNIM, for your generosity and partnership!

Luke's Closet has not slowed down in the weeks since our busiest-ever Shop & Eat event on April 11.

Our volunteers have fulfilled several online requests, including one from a foster mom who said, "She brought almost nothing and in bad condition. Anything helps."

Thank you to our volunteers and donors for supporting foster care and kinship care children. 🫶

Check out this recent shipment of 5,000 socks from Bombas!

Each child who receives clothes from Luke's Closet gets a pack of socks, and Bombas is critical to making that happen. Thanks to Bombas for their generosity!

We also thank everyone who purchases Bombas socks for themselves. You’re helping us give socks to children in foster and kinship care families in Dane County! 🧦🥰

A tiny newborn girl was recently placed in emergency foster care. Within 24 hours of the request, Luke’s Closet delivered a full layette of newborn clothing.

We’re honored to be a small piece of the puzzle of the many people helping ensure this baby girl gets what she needs. 💓

We’re happy to share a story about nonprofits supporting nonprofits!

Vera Court Neighborhood Center recently reached out, looking for clothing racks to use for one day. They were hosting an event for high school students who needed prom attire, and they needed racks to hang donated dresses and suits for students to shop.

A donor that had committed to providing clothing racks cancelled last minute, leaving Vera Court Neighborhood Center scrambling to find and pick up racks just hours before their event! We quickly emptied our 6 portable racks of outerwear, and Vera Court Neighborhood Center raced to pick them up.

As Luke’s Closet is not able to accept formal attire, we’re especially thankful for organizations that fill that need. Kudos to Vera Court Neighborhood Center for all they do to support our neighbors in need!

We’re sharing more feedback from two families we served at last weekend’s Shop & Eat event. We’re honored to highlight the impact Luke’s Closet is making for foster and kinship families in Dane County.
