Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

Asher is starting his first year of violin, and I’m pretty sure watching his big brother play has inspired him to want to give it a try too. 🎻

Every time Asher starts something new, I find myself thinking back to the day we received his hearing loss diagnosis—and all the fears and questions I had about his future.

Will he be able to do this? Will he be able to do that? What will be harder for him?

And then I look at him now.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to give our kids the opportunity to try.

Will they sometimes have to work harder? Yes.
Will we have to advocate for them, find accommodations, and sometimes find a different way of doing things? Absolutely.

But things are possible.

A diagnosis does not get to decide everything our children will be capable of.

So here we go… first year of violin. 🎻 I have no idea where this little adventure will take him, but I’m so proud that he’s willing to try.

And I hope that by sharing these moments, another parent—especially one at the beginning of this journey—can look at their child and think:

My child is capable of anything.

We just wanted to share a little bit of Asher and his adventures… 😂💙

Just another day with the little boy behind Asher’s Gift Box. 🪣

He called for help, I walked outside… and this is what I found. 🤦‍♀️🤣

And of course, big brother tried to come to the rescue!

There is truly never a dull moment with this kid. 😂 But behind all the silliness is the little boy who inspired Asher’s Gift Box and our mission to support deaf and hard of hearing children, remind them that they are not alone, and empower them to be exactly who God created them to be… amazing kids. 💙

This is what makes Part 2 so special. 🥹💙📚

Asher's Gift Box was contacted by another nonprofit organization with an opportunity to reach Deaf and hard-of-hearing children outside of the United States. And now, through rhett_the_heeler and Karlie fundraiser, we have the opportunity to send copies of their books in Spanish to children through this mission! 🌎🤟

When Karlie first offered to help Asher’s Gift Box, we talked about providing books for the boxes we send to families here in the U.S. But now those books have the opportunity to travel even farther and reach children and families in other countries too. 💙

That makes my heart so happy.

Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

My heart is breaking for Cali, Colombia. 🇨🇴

On August 10, Colombia was struck by a devastating earthquake, leaving so much destruction and loss behind. Seeing the videos from my hometown has been incredibly difficult. These aren’t just places I’m seeing on the news, I recognize these streets and neighborhoods. I grew up there, visited friends there, and my family lives close to some of the affected areas.

I’m incredibly grateful that my family is safe, but so many others have lost loved ones, their homes, and basic necessities. Being so far away, I keep asking myself, what can I do from here?

Normally, around my birthday, I do a fundraiser to support Asher’s Gift Box, my own nonprofit. But right now, my heart is with Cali, and I want to use that same spirit of giving to help my hometown.

I reached out to a trusted friend in Cali who is personally helping with relief efforts. Through him, I learned about the work Iglesia Cristiana Tierra Nueva is doing to support affected families.

My goal is for us to raise $1,000 together. Donations will go directly to the church through their PayPal, no money will come through me.

And truly, no amount is too small. Even $1 helps. When many of us give a little, together it can provide food, water, clothing, diapers, blankets, and other essentials for families who need them right now.

Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

I am so incredibly grateful for this!

Karlie & rhett_the_heeler are doing it again, and this time they chose Asher's Gift Box🤟📚

Karlie is raising funds to purchase books that we will be able to include in our Asher’s Gift Boxes and send to children through our mission work with Wanda.

These books are so much more than books. They share Rhett and Karlie’s journey and carry such a beautiful message for our kids—that being deaf or hard of hearing doesn’t define what they are capable of. They remind our kids that they can learn, explore, dream, and do amazing things in their own way.

As a small nonprofit, support like this means SO much to us. Every book donated means another child and family we can reach.

My heart is so full. ❤️

I received these photos and videos Wanda, who is leading the Dominican Republic mission, and I can’t stop smiling.

Seeing these precious children receive their hearing aids and hold a stuffed animal—or another gift we sent just for them—is such a beautiful reminder of why Asher's Gift Box exists. Every child deserves to feel seen, loved, and represented.

None of this would have been possible without your support. Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping us bring smiles, encouragement, and hope to children and families.

Today, our third and final box is heading to Pennsylvania before continuing its journey to the Dominican Republic! 🇩🇴💙

Because of your generosity, we were also able to purchase 6 additional Spanish books, which will be shipped directly to Wanda for distribution in the Dominican Republic, bringing this mission to our goal of 100 items!

One of my favorite parts of this project is seeing how every donation creates a ripple effect.

The Magic Hands come from Talking Hands 3D, a family-owned business created by parents of a daughter who is deaf. The Spanish books were written by Tanya Saunders, author of Ling Ling Bird, and a mom raising a child with a cochlear implant. Because of your generosity, we’re not only blessing families in the Dominican Republic, we are also supporting other families and small businesses that are making a difference in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

There is also something I do not often share.

Asher's Gift Box is completely volunteer-run. I don’t receive a salary for this work. Every email and message answered, every stuffed animal prepared, every donation organized, every hearing aid attached, and every box packed and shipped is done because our family believes every deaf and hard of hearing child deserves to know they are seen, valued, and never alone.

Our family’s small business, Embrace Wellness, is what gives me the flexibility to continue doing this ministry work.

While Asher's Gift Box and Embrace Wellness look very different, they are both rooted in the same calling: to love people well, listen to their stories, and remind them they are seen, cared for, and never alone.
