Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

I never expected that becoming a soccer mom would teach me so much. ❤️⚽

This past year, I had the opportunity to help coach my son Asher’s soccer team. Watching the kids grow throughout the season was incredible. Their confidence grew with every practice, every game, every pass, and every goal.

One of the most meaningful parts of the season was seeing how much access to communication mattered for Asher.

As a child with hearing loss, there was often a gap between him and his teammates because he couldn’t always hear the coach’s directions from across the field. Many times, he would watch what the other kids were doing and follow them instead of hearing the instructions himself.

With the help of a DM system, that changed.

He could hear the coach more clearly, understand what was happening in the game, and participate with greater confidence. We watched him grow not only as a soccer player, but as a teammate. We even got to celebrate goals that might not have happened without the access and support he needed to fully participate.

Every child deserves the opportunity to be included, to understand what is happening around them, and to build confidence in the activities they love.

The biggest reward of all was hearing Asher tell me that one day he wants to play soccer professionally and compete in the World Cup. Dreams grow when children have access, support, and people who believe in them.

That is why representation, advocacy, and access matter. ❤️

❤️⚽🎧🇨🇴

Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

One of the most special parts of creating these stuffed animals is customizing them to match each child’s unique hearing journey. 💙

Whether a child wears:
• a hearing aid on one side
• hearing aids on both sides
• a cochlear implant
• a BAHA
• different devices on each ear or not devices at all.

I do my best to match their stuffed animal as closely as possible so they can truly see themselves represented.

These details may seem small to others, but to these kids and families, they mean everything — because they meant everything to us too. ✨

When Asher was diagnosed, I remember searching for ways to help him feel seen, included, and proud of who he was. That journey is what inspired me to start creating these personalized stuffed animals for other children and families walking a similar path. 💙

Thanks for your support

Much love
Diana Knott

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there from Asher's Gift Box

God sees you…

you are stronger than you think.

You are smart, you are beautiful, you are wise.

Even when you think you don’t know what you are doing, let me tell you…you are doing it from your heart, maybe a tired and exhausted one, but you are doing it with all the love you have for your family so that counts above everything.

We had planned to go out for breakfast this morning but last night, I told my husband that I wanted just to sleep in a little as Asher had been up since 5am and we went bed late getting some things together for our new baby nephew. You know, mom’s life.

This morning my husband and the kids surprised me 🥰 You can see my I just “I just wake up face” 😆

They made me an amazing breakfast that we all shared together while sitting on the floor as I was reading the cards… you know, mom’s life.

What I loved the most is that they made this flower frame together. I love how my husband is passing down his creative skills to the kids and the pride they take on the work of their hands and the knowledge of using tools.

And yes… we were running late to soccer this morning because you know… mom’s life.

You, yes you, you are doing an amazing job. Remember that.

Much love,

Diana Knott

What an eventful appointment we had.

First, praise God. Asher’s hearing loss is stable, meaning he hasn’t lost more hearing since his last test 6 months ago.

At the appointment, one of the molds ripped, so the audiologist took new impressions for new molds. Good timing for that to happen.

The audiologist asked Asher if he wanted the same Batman molds, and to my surprise, he said no. I didn’t know how to feel at first 💔🥰

It truly feels like the end of an era because his love for Batman has been there for a few years. I still remember how empowered he felt when he picked his Batman molds.

It was so special to watch him choose his new colors and see the confidence he had in that moment. I love that he gets to make these decisions. He chose a combination of green and yellow with clear.

Then, he did his hearing test like a big boy. No throwing toys in a bucket this time, no need for two audiologists, and no headphones.

This time, she used insert earphones, and he had to raise his hand when he heard the sound.

Oh my, this appointment was so special. So many moments filled with growth and empowerment today. So proud of him 🤩

Waiting for his hearing test…

Asher has his hearing test every 6 months, instead of once per year, since we found out that he lost more hearing a couple years ago.

As a mom, it is hard to be sitting here because I know there is a probability of that happening again but I sit and wait here reminding myself that God has my baby in his hands.

For Asher, it is just a test. He is so used to do this this that he just comes and gets it done with a smile on his face.

For all those parents that go through this process and the anxiety and the unknowns, please know you are not alone.

Much love,

Diana Knott

Hello friends of Asher's Gift Box

We had really bad weather yesterday in our state and while we were listening to sirens 🚨 and figuring out if we needed to go and stay in our basement, Asher asked for a stuffed animal to take with him. He grabbed Lamb-B. It was one of the first stuffed animals I put magic ears on for him 🥰

This moment was special because even though it has been few years since he got this stuffed animal, it is the one that brought comfort to him yesterday.

I would love if the families that have received the boxes could share a story about the stuffed animals we have sent to those precious kiddos. I know Asher would love to hear them.

Much love to all of you,

Diana Knott

Today was something really special 🩵

I had the opportunity to participate in a mock IEP meeting with future Speech Language Pathologists at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and I walked away feeling so encouraged.

As a parent who is currently navigating the IEP process, the struggles, the advocacy, the victories, it meant so much to share my voice and perspective with students who will soon be supporting families just like ours.

And honestly… this couldn’t have come at a more meaningful time.

Tomorrow, I walk into Asher’s IEP reevaluation meeting, the real one.

If I’m being real, I’m nervous.
But today reminded me that there are professionals out there who truly want to listen, learn and support our kids.

These students aren’t just learning from textbooks… they are learning how to lead with empathy, collaboration, and respect. And that gives me hope.

A special thank you to Courtney Seidel for creating such a meaningful and real learning experience for her students. The way you prepare future SLPs truly makes a difference for families like ours.

At Asher's Gift Box, this is why we do what we do. Our mission is to empower parents, to advocate for our children, and to make sure our voices are heard in rooms that matter.

If you are a parent navigating the IEP process right now, please know:

You are not alone
Your voice matters
You are your child’s greatest advocate

And yes, the IEP team are professionals…
but I am the mom, and I am a professional too.

We know our children in a way no one else does. Our voice matters in that room.

And today, I’m reminding myself of that too 🩵 🦻
