Heads up. Middleton Art League will NOT meet Monday May 27 due to Memorial Day. We WILL meet on Tuesday May 28 same time and place.

I tried to work this out early enough that members would not be surprised like I was when Barbara Seever reminded me of the holiday this morning.

MAL voted to not meet Monday due to recent Covid activity. I hope all of MAL members will post their Show and Tell on FB. This is my last painting. I decided it is incomplete. I used 3 reference sources and drew in the composition with a new color that I am trying out (Transparent Oxide Yellow). I used the proportional divider to decrease the size of the men and dog. I am not sure I like decreasing as much as increasing. Was more of a challenge. I see a few composition problems and maybe a couple perspective problems but they can be resolved. I can see that I am getting into a habit with the sky and foreground in many of my painting. I might need to do a little more creative ways of bringing viewer into the picture plane.

MAL may not meet due to Covid but let’s share what we are currently working on or what we have done this month. I am in the process of composing a painting of cotton. One thumbnail done. Photos are for reference of cotton, sky etc. May do a different composition this morning before I do Notan of the one I will paint.

My show & Tell. I have been teaching a small Beginner’s Oil Painting Class. They are so great. It has been so much fun. It was so much fun but challenging to develope the plan but so rewarding. I love it when someone has a light bulb moment.
