AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY

Smoke from Canadian wildfires is expected to affect our region over the next few days. An Air Quality Health Advisory is in effect for Wednesday, July 15, throughout Yates, Ontario and surrounding counties due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter, known as PM2.5.

A current condition report can be obtained for you specific location from http://www.airnow.gov

Smoke conditions can change quickly throughout the day. Children, older adults and people with asthma, COPD, heart disease or other breathing problems may be especially sensitive.

To reduce your exposure:

• Monitor the local Air Quality Index before spending extended time outdoors.
• Limit strenuous outdoor exercise or work when the air looks or smells smoky.
• Keep windows and doors closed and use air conditioning on recirculate when possible.
• Keep prescribed inhalers and other medications readily available.
• Move indoors if you experience coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness or unusual fatigue.

Call 911 for severe difficulty breathing, chest pain or another medical emergency.

Please check on family members, friends and neighbors who may be particularly vulnerable, and continue monitoring local conditions through the remainder of the week.

Happy 4th of July from Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service!

As our community celebrates Independence Day, we hope everyone enjoys a safe, fun, and meaningful holiday with family, friends, and neighbors.

Please remember that fireworks can cause serious burns, injuries, and fires. The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to leave them to the professionals and attend a permitted public display.

Our friends at the Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department will be hosting a professional fireworks display on July 4th at 10:00 PM at their Branchport Station. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the holiday safely.

Celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and make safety part of your holiday plans.

From all of us at Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service, have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc. is proud to announce that we have been awarded matching grant funding through the Mary Clark Thompson Community Health Grants Program, sponsored by the F.F. Thompson Foundation.

The grant will help fund the purchase of two video laryngoscopes, advanced airway management devices that assist EMS providers in securing a patient's airway during critical emergencies. These devices improve visualization during intubation and can increase the likelihood of successful airway placement when seconds matter most.

We are grateful to the F.F. Thompson Foundation and the Mary Clark Thompson Community Health Grants Program for investing in the health and safety of our community. Their continued support of local not-for-profit organizations helps ensure that residents of the Finger Lakes region have access to high-quality emergency medical care close to home.

🎓 Congratulations to the Marcus Whitman High School Class of 2026! 🎓

We celebrate your hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments. As you begin the next chapter of your lives, we wish you success, happiness, and countless opportunities ahead.

Graduation is a time to celebrate, and we encourage graduates, families, and friends to make those celebrations responsible. Some of the best memories are made when everyone can fully enjoy the moment and return home safely. Choosing to not to drink eliminates the risk of impaired driving and helps ensure that this special day remains a positive memory for years to come.

From all of us at Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Celebrate your achievements, look out for one another, and enjoy a safe and memorable graduation season.

🎉 Celebrate your accomplishments.
❤️ Make smart choices.
