On behalf of Middlesex PBA 181, Ofc. Szymczak, Ofc. Muldowney and Ofc. Dangler stopped by the Middlesex Shopping Center this morning to support Girl Scout Troop #60165 in their fundraising efforts. Let’s help these hardworking entrepreneurs sell out of cookies by the end of the day — they will be there until 1:00pm.

Police Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora were callously murdered in cold blood while responding to a domestic dispute. This is another reminder that there are NO routine calls for service. We mourn their loss and vow to never forget their sacrifices.

Special News Release – January 24, 2022

STRUCTURE FIRE

On Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 3:21 P.M., the Middlesex Police Department received numerous 9-1-1 calls reporting a smoke condition at the Middlesex Village Apartments. Police arrived and discovered a working structure fire in apartment 51B, which was unoccupied. Residents in adjacent units were quickly evacuated.

The Middlesex Fire Department responded and promptly extinguished the fire. The damage caused by the fire rendered apartments 51B and 51A uninhabitable, displacing three residents.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but it is not believed to be suspicious.

The Dunellen Fire Department, Bound Brook Fire Department, Finderne Fire Department - Bridgewater Township, Middlesex County Fire Marshal’s Office, Middlesex Borough Office of Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Services from Bound Brook and Dunellen also responded. No injuries were reported.
