The Recreation Department is responsible for planning and developing public recreational facilities. We coordinate and develop all recreational activities in addition to promoting and directing an all

year program of cultural and leisure-time activities for both children and adults. We oversee the sports organizations and sponsor many special events throughout the year. In addition, the recreation department operates all township recreational facilities and develops immediate and long range plans to meet the growing recreational needs of the township.

The Monroe Township Police Department, is excited to invite you and your family to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Thompson Park.

Mayor's Office – Fireworks & Independence Day Celebration Cancellation

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today's fireworks display and all scheduled events at Thompson Park due to the threat of thunderstorms in the forecast and the storm damage our community and State experienced last night.

The safety of our residents, visitors and emergency personnel is our highest priority. With over 300 residents still without power throughout the Township and the potential for additional severe weather, it is essential that we keep our police, fire, EMS, and public works personnel available to respond to emergencies.

By making this decision now, we will have the opportunity to reschedule the celebration for a future date so our community can properly commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America under safer conditions.

We know this is disappointing, and this decision was not made lightly. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to put safety first. Information regarding a rescheduled date will be announced as soon as it becomes available.

Additional information on road openings and extreme heat conditions will be provided by Monroe Township OEM throughout the day.
