Today at Crater Quilters, we had a real cottage industry with assembly line cutting, sewing, pressing blue jean aprons for a group of young men in our community. We also had a great show and tell following all the stay at home weather.

Today in Mt. Vernon, KY at the KY. Music Hall of Fame, there was a quilt show with three categories: hand sewn and quilted, machine sewn and quilted and item made from quilt.
Winners were selected by the many viewers, nice monetary prizes were awarded and door prizes drawn for.
Lots of quilts for viewing, interesting location, good day.

Today was our joint meeting with Norris Lake Quilt Bee and what an enjoyable time it was. Meeting some of their quilters, hearing about their individual and group projects and activities and sharing the same from Crater Quilters.

Recently I have been using vintage linens in my quilts and this summer/fall have reworked three baby quilts that were one stop away from the dumpster. Someone gave me a quilt top made in the 1930s that contained maybe 40 embroidered blocks, birds, flowers, flower baskets, geometric and baby designs. The embroidery on the turtle quilt was so fine, I couldn't let it go. You can still see the original quilting marks in the block corners. And the quilt was worn and faded but the kitten applique was still good. Now all have been reworked with new fabrics and will have a new story to tell. I like to think this would make the original maker happy!

25 colorful pillowcases are on their way to Lexington to be included in holiday gift boxes for Military Missions. Good job Crater Quilters.

Yesterday was the final day of our quilt retreat and Cathy was the first to finish the Fruity Melon quilt top. It was the lesson in curved piecing.

Wednesday night we ate with church folks and shared what we have been doing at the quilt retreat. We shared block of the month started last year, progress on learning curved piecing, the snowman door decoration and pillowcases made for Military Missions.
