We’re headed north across the lake for one of Ohio’s classic island flying destinations: Put-In-Bay (3W2). For those interested, we may also make a short hop over to Kelley’s Island during the day.
We’ll arrive mid-morning, enjoy lunch and the island atmosphere, and spend some time exploring before heading home. Island flying always makes for a memorable summer trip.
Join us Friday, May 29 for a fly-out to Put-In-Bay with an optional stop at Kelley’s Island. (Weather permitting)
Target arrival is 10:00 AM.

Update from our current Ray Aviation Scholar - Luke Shipman

I didn’t get to fly much this month; I’ve had to put school in front of
flying, but now that the semester is over, I can’t wait to be flying as much as I can. I’m feeling a lot more comfortable with maneuvers and my pattern work has been getting more consistent. Although I still have rough landings, they are becoming less frequent. I really hope to get my solo cross-country this next month and make headway toward the finish line.

Update from one of our EAA5 Scholarship Recipients - Isaac Burden

Today I am on the way to my Technical training at Sheppard AFB in Texas until July 7th. Having just completed Basic Training, I now have time to focus on familiarizing myself with aviation through handbooks I have brought along with me. Before I left, Jim McDermott and I were able to start the process to install a Garmin 175 into his Cessna 172. Don Cunningham and Ric Blamer have been instrumental in helping make the right choices regarding the updates to the panels. I look forward to getting back to the airport and I thoroughly enjoy reading the newsletters. Please continue to inspire the others to love and engage in one of the greatest feats of man, soaring through the skies. Many of my greatest memories were spent in the air and I can’t wait to take my check ride! I am forever grateful to EAA Chapter 5 and its mission.
