SAVE HISTORIC MIDDLEBURY, INC. ANNOUNCES THE CREATION OF ITS ANNUAL MIDDLEBURY
HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARDS
MIDDLEBURY, Connecticut, May 23, 2025
Save Historic Middlebury, Inc. (SHM) a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to preserving historic structures and
places in Middlebury, CT has announced the creation of its annual Middlebury Historic Preservation Awards.
Middlebury is home to a vast and varied collection of homes, buildings, structures and places that are historic
or unique representing many architectural styles and events over time. The owners and stewards of these
properties should be recognized and publicly commended for their work. The creation of an annual award not
only celebrates individual or group preservation, but also instills a sense of town pride in its physical assets
and encourages others to preserve their unique building or location.
The organization is in the early stages of creating criteria for inclusion, rules for judging and a call for volunteer
judges. Interested residents who would like to share opinions or help with these awards are encouraged to
email the group at [email protected]
In addition to this annual award, Save Historic Middlebury, Inc. will begin to publicly recognize individual
preservation efforts and projects throughout the year to bring attention and interest. If any resident would like a
property or place highlighted, email the address, description, the owners contact information if available and
your reason why the subject should be recognized to [email protected]
SHM is planning for the inaugural award to be given in the first quarter of 2026, and will keep the public
updated on its process throughout the remainder of 2025. For more information on Save Historic Middlebury,
Inc. and the preservation and advocacy efforts currently underway visit www.shmiddlebury.org
