Middlebury Walks for a Cure A community-wide fundraiser supporting local cancer patients and their families. I walk in memory of those we've lost. I walk in honor of those fighting.

I walk so that our children will not have to. The Middlebury Walk for a Cure is an annual event that takes place the first weekend of every October. It includes a 5K walk and run, vendors and insight from guest speakers. Nean Smith started the walk in 2005 after finishing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Smith started the promotion, organizing and designing all on her own, but the event has grown t

o have its own board and a string of activities. Money raised from the event will go to United Cancer Services in Elkhart to help pay bills for cancer patients and to The Retreat's Women's Health Center in Goshen to pay for mammograms for women who can't afford them.

To all of our loyal and wonderful participants that have made the last 14 years possible we want to say thank you!

This has been an incredible journey that has seen over 250,000 dollars raised for our neighbors fighting the fight against cancer.

We have looked forward to every year putting on the best possible walk for the community to come out and support. With that comes a lot of time and commitment.

It is unfortunate that this year we have decided to take a step back and put Middlebury Walks for a Cure on hold.

This is by no means the end for us. We want to continue supporting and being a driving force in Elkhart County when it comes to raising awareness and money for cancer patients, survivors and their families.

With this year being on hold it only means that we are going to come back bigger and stronger in the years to come. Look out for us in 2020 as it will be a truly wonderful year.

We encourage everyone to keep fighting, wage hope and love each other.

Join us for the 14th Annual Middlebury Walks for a Cure 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Das Dutchmen Essenhaus Inn & Conference Center in Middlebury, Indiana. Be sure to wear your most creative pink outfit and accessories for a chance to win a prize in the Pretty in Pink Contest!
