The Middlebury Junior Fire Department is a youth organization comprised of Middlebury Connecticut residents between the ages of fourteen to seventeen who have an interest in the fire service and serving others.

The past 2 weeks Juniors marched in 2 parades, and Tunxis! In both parades as a whole department, we took home the Best Overall Fire Unit!

Tonight Juniors took advantage of the nice weather and did some much needed cleaning of Engine 1 and FD-12

A change of scenery for the juniors tonight! Tonight juniors visited and learned about our West End Station and our apparatus kept at the West End. Juniors learned about Squad 1,Engine 4,Gator 1 and Marine 1 as well as our portable light tower!

Can anyone guess what year Engine 4 was built in?

(Hint: it is our oldest piece of apparatus that is currently in service!)

This past Friday, juniors reviewed Squad 1.
Squad 1 is stationed at the West End, however lately, it’s been at Fire Headquarters filling in for Engine 3 while it’s out for repairs

Tonight Juniors we’re practicing how to pack and unpack hose. To be more exact, how to properly take the Mattydale off Engine 3 and how to pack it back on properly

On this warmer February Friday night, Juniors reviewed Engine 6 as well as its unique pump. Juniors also got to hook up and learn about hard suction on Engine 6 and got to get some practice in with the hoses at the end

Tonight juniors wrapped up a good January full of trainings with a overview of all of our Holmatro extrication equipment. These tools can be used for many different emergencies,however we mainly use them on Motor Vehicle Accidents with positive entrapment of patients

On this rainy Friday juniors got to know Engine 1 and the equipment on it, as well as what types of calls it is used for. Juniors also got to learn what makes it so special and how unique it really is.
After that juniors were able to freshen up there skills and knowledge with a relay race and scavenger hunt to find equipment on all of the apparatus including the ambulances that are stationed at Fire Headquarters

Tonight Juniors spent time going over one of our very important pieces of apparatus, Rescue 1. Juniors learned what emergencies it responds to as well as all of its equipment.
Juniors were also able to see how the Departments New Electric Holmatro tool works that was recently put into service.

We would especially like to thank Santa, for taking time out of his busy schedule
and we would also like to thank His Elf’s Nick,Kevin,Paul and Bob who were busy in the kitchen cooking!
