The LoveWay Nosey Neighbor Van is headed to Downtown Goshen's First Fridays Birthday Bash tonight!

Starting at 5pm, stop by to meet Champ, one of LoveWay's miniature horses, and learn a little more about the work we do throughout the community. We're excited to join in the celebration and connect with friends, neighbors, and families during this fun evening downtown.

If you're planning to attend the Birthday Bash, be sure to stop and say hello - we'd love to see you!

What a day on the course!

Monday’s Gallop for the Green Golf Outing was a tremendous success, with 31 teams coming together for a day of swinging for scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and community partners, critical funds were raised to help provide life-changing opportunities through equine assisted services for the students and families we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to invest in our mission and the limitless potential of every individual we serve. Thank you for helping make this year’s outing one to remember.

LoveWay was excited to be part of Bristol’s Farmers Market! Christy and Madeline loaded up Teddy, our miniature horse, in the Nosey Neighbor Van and spent the afternoon visiting with neighbors, sharing smiles, and connecting with the community.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to build relationships and share LoveWay’s mission beyond our barn. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello!

Keep an eye out - you never know where the Nosey Neighbor Van and Teddy will pop up next.

Meet Piper!

If you’ve spent any time around LoveWay, you’ve probably crossed paths with our unofficial supervisor - Piper. She can usually be found stretched out in the sun, perched on a stall door like she owns the place, or quietly moving from barn to barn making sure everything is exactly as it should be.

As we head into this Friday before Memorial Day, there’s something fitting about her rhythm. Piper doesn’t rush. She shows up, settles in, keeps watch, and reminds us that sometimes presence is enough.

At LoveWay, we talk a lot about meeting people where they are. Piper does that too - just with a little more napping involved.

Here’s to slowing down a bit, noticing the small moments, and stepping into the long weekend with gratitude for the work, the rest, and everything in between.

This month, we are honored to put a spotlight on our Tuesday evening volunteer crew.

Every Tuesday evening, a special group of volunteers walks through the barn doors ready to serve, encourage, and support the students in our home-based program. Some have been part of LoveWay for just one year, while others have spent nearly 25 years volunteering their time here, but each of them plays an important role in what makes these evenings so meaningful.

For many, their connection to LoveWay started with the horses. Over time, it became about so much more - celebrating student progress, building relationships, witnessing moments of discovery, and being part of an environment filled with encouragement and joy. Week after week, this group helps create a place where students can grow in confidence while simply being themselves.

Thank you to Ruby, Barb, Arlen, Dewayne, Stephanie, Kayla, Shane, Jodie, Heather, and Kathy for the care, consistency, and heart you bring to LoveWay. Tuesday evenings would not be the same without you, and we are so grateful for the impact each of you continue to make.

A huge thank you to the ladies from Beta Zeta for spending the day at LoveWay for the second year in a row!

The crew jumped right in to help clean Elsa and Kate’s pasture before the rain rolled in. Even with the change in plans, they had the opportunity to step inside the barn and experience a small glimpse of what happens behind the barn doors at LoveWay each day by observing one of our evening classes and celebrating alongside a few students graduating from LoveWay programming.

We are so grateful for volunteers like Beta Zeta who give their time, serve with such kindness, and take the opportunity to truly connect with our mission. Thank you for your hard work and continued support - we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back for year three!

Staff Member of the Month: Madeline Davis - Equine Manager

What's the most rewarding moment you've had at LoveWay?- It's not one specific moment, but whenever I see a new student get on their horse for the first time. They always have the brightest smiles after they walk on from the mounting block, with all their volunteers grinning too! It just brightens everyone's day.

If you could have any superpower in your role, what would it be? -A pair of magic cowboy boots that never wore down, never got wet, never tracked around mud, and are as comfy as tennis shoes. I do so much walking around with my job so I'm really hard on my boots:)

What's one thing you can't live without on a busy day at LoveWay?- Coffee Coffee Coffee!!! I've been drinking coffee every morning since I was about 12 or 13 so it's a pivotal step in my morning routine. I blame my dad. Growing up I wanted to do whatever he was doing so If he was drinking coffee so was I.

What's your favorite thing about working with our horses?- I love everything about working with the LoveWay herd! Each horse is so unique and so important for what we do. They have the hardest job out of all of us. I feel very humbled and grateful that I get to spend as much time with them as I do. One of my favorite things is watching new horses working in their very first class. It's so rewarding after all the hard work that goes into their everyday care and training to see them instantly connect with a student and make a big impact.

Where did you grow up, and what brought you to LoveWay?- I'm originally from the Upper Peninsula of MI, but I grew up on a big farm in Coloma, MI. I have two older sisters who worked at a Therapeutic Riding Center, and I would beg to tag along to do chores with them to see the horses, even though we had horses at home. I was living in the Elkhart area for about 2 years before finding LoveWay and getting a position as a Barn Assistant. LoveWay has been the perfect place for me to land and has given me the wonderful opportunity to pursue my dream of working with horses.

Horse of the Month: Skeeter

Skeeter has a heart of gold. At just 14 years old, he carries himself like he has been part of the program for years.

From the very beginning, Skeeter quickly earned the trust of staff and volunteers with his calm, steady presence and kind temperament. He stepped right into classes and immediately impressed everyone with how naturally he understood what his riders needed.

In one of his very first classes, Skeeter was even used in the lift area- a process that can be overwhelming for some horses - but he stood like a statue for his student without hesitation. That level of patience and trust has become one of his greatest strengths.

Skeeter consistently takes care of his riders in the most thoughtful ways. He slows his pace when a rider becomes unbalanced and offers a steady, quiet presence that makes him especially well-suited for more challenging students.

There is truly no shortage of kind words from staff and volunteers when it comes to Skeeter. He is steady, intuitive, and deeply trustworthy - an incredible partner in the arena.
