Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival Join us for MNFF12 on August 26-30, 2026! The Festival

The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival is all about the work of first and second time filmmakers.

The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival [MNFF] was formed to support, promote and exhibit the dynamic and imaginative efforts of new filmmakers. It is our sole focus and it's what we do exceptionally well. The event takes place in scenic Middlebury, Vermont in late August each year. Our first festival rolled out August 27-30, 2015 and our 7th Annual Fest will take place August 25-29, 2021. We antic

ipate having as many as 80 slots available for accepted entries and selections will be made by a panel of judges led by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Jay Craven. We encourage our filmmakers to come to the festival and engage in Q&A sessions with audiences following the screening of their work. We also welcome other distinguished guests to our stages for lively discussions on the craft as well as the art of filmmaking, addressing topics of interest to both our filmmakers and the folks who come to see their films.

We can't think of many better ways to spend a Friday than at the Festival! With a return to beautiful sunny skies, Friday gave us three masterclasses, a boatload of wonderful films and a great cast of excellent filmmakers alongside them! We then finished it off with an energetic party at Middlebury Inn, rounding out an excellent day of celebrating filmmakers!

You know him, you love him…. It’s Lloyd!!!!

Lloyd Komesar spent nearly 30 years as a sales, research and distribution exec in the film and television programming industry, first at Blair Television in New York, then, for the next 25 years, at the Walt Disney Company in New York and Los Angeles.

MNFF has become the greatest second chapter he could ever have wished for. A graduate of Wesleyan University with a Masters from Brooklyn College, his life is anchored by family, friends, film, music and sports. Fly, Eagles, Fly!
