Planning and zoning approved the site plan and application last night. It will now go before the Board of Commissioners next Tuesday, June 9 at 5:00 pm.

Rezoning to change 8.37 acres from Agriculture/Residential District (AR) to Planned Commercial Development District

The application requests to "rezone approximately 8.37 acres of vacant land".

What EXACTLY is vacant land? Just because there are structures doesn't mean its devoid of wildlife habitat, natural drainage patterns, aquifer recharge points, landscape buffers, and sound attenuation.

Another point of interest. This design shows ~15% of the area provided for stormwater pond. The proposed design for Long Bay and Sunrise Farms (Hearing Agenda Item #2) shows less than 1% for stormwater ponds.

A main gripe is this: When completed, this would look exactly like the prototype that exists in hundreds of other locations all around town. Why can't we have a little creativity and some innovation. Incorporate some landscaping and natural features into the design. Not necessarily a proponent of LEED, but there are some good take-aways from sustainable practices.

Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend the HOA Board Meeting, Saturday, May 9th at 9:00 AM. We will meet at the mailbox kiosk. This will be your opportunity to have a voice and select the paint color for the entrance, discuss the approved construction at Knightboxx Road/CR 220, and any other issues within our community.
