Ashton Morris Leads Silver Stars 14u Past Ritchie 14u

Ashton Morris collected three hits in three at bats, as Silver Stars 14u defeated Ritchie 14u 9-0 on Wednesday at 201 Ritchie County School Road. Morris singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.
Silver Stars 14u won thanks in part to five runs in the third inning. Zain Snider doubled, scoring two runs, Grady Shortridge doubled, scoring one run, Kaden Cross drew a walk, scoring one run, and Peyton Baker singled, scoring one run.
A ground out by Shortridge put Silver Stars 14u on the board in the top of the first.
Morris began the game for Silver Stars 14u. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking four. Freeland began the game for Ritchie 14u. The hurler allowed seven hits and six runs over three innings, striking out five and walking two. Lane Moser pitched one inning of shutout ball for Silver Stars 14u in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
Silver Stars 14u collected 10 hits in the game. Shortridge provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Silver Stars 14u with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Snider and Baker each collected multiple hits for Silver Stars 14u. Heath Mason led Silver Stars 14u with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Morris and Jacob Gump each stole multiple bases for Silver Stars 14u. Silver Stars 14u stole seven bases in the game. Silver Stars 14u didn't commit a single error in the field. Snider had the most chances in the field with 12.
Collins went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Ritchie 14u in hits. Henderson stole two bases. Ritchie 14u turned one double play in the game.
