📣 We hope this message finds you well.
We wanted to take a moment to share important information with our PTA community as we approach upcoming discussions around the district’s education budget.
Upcoming School Committee Meeting
This Thursday, February 12, 2026, the proposed education budget will be presented to the School Committee at Middleborough High School. If approved, it will then move on to the Select Board for further consideration. At this time, the proposed budget challenges to fully meet the needs of our district.
Due to a shortfall, district administration have indicated that cuts and reconfigurations, especially the complex, may be necessary across school buildings. While specific details have not yet been finalized, more information is expected to be discussed at the upcoming School Committee meeting.
How You Can Get Involved
As parents and caregivers, staying informed and engaged is one of the most important ways we can support our students. We encourage PTA members to:
• Stay informed about town matters, including the upcoming April 4th election, where several School Committee and Select Board seats will be decided. Annual town meeting April 27th- where YOU can vote
• Learn about the candidates and their priorities related to education.
• Ask questions and seek clarity so you understand how decisions may affect your child and school community.
• Stay engaged in conversations around how potential changes could impact students.
Potential Impacts of Budget Cuts
Potential budget cuts may result in larger class sizes, reduced services, fewer enrichment programs, less one-on-one support for students, and challenges maintaining strong relationships between students and staff.
These changes can also affect family communication and overall school community connections.
Thank you for being an active and caring part of our school community.
Together, as a PTA, we remain committed to supporting both our students and staff and advocating for the best possible outcomes for our schools.
We will continue to keep our members informed.
