8 years ago today, we took Khloe to Franklin Square Emergency Room, where we met an angel by the name of Dr. Morgen Bernius.
After examining Khloe’s stomach, Dr. Morgen knew something wasn’t right and ordered a sonogram. When she came back in, she told us Khloe had numerous pockets in her liver and that she wasn’t sure what was going on.
I began to scream, cry and beg her to tell me what was happening. With tears in her eyes, she looked at me and said, “I don’t know.”
What she did know was that Khloe needed to be transferred to the University of Maryland. Dr. Morgen is the one who initiated Khloe’s journey toward healing. She got the ball rolling in the right direction after Khloe had previously been misdiagnosed.
Everything happened so fast, and because we didn’t have physical documentation from that ER visit, I couldn’t remember her name. But I never forgot how she helped save Khloe’s life, or the compassion and kindness she showed us during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.
I also remembered a brief conversation we had about our children, and that she had a child born in April, just a few days before Khloe’s birthday.
In July 2021, with the help of some of my coworkers, Dr. York, and Dr. Macatangay, I was finally able to find her. I will never forget that Saturday morning when I called her. It was a full-circle moment, and being able to finally express my gratitude felt so amazing.
God bless you, Dr. Morgen. My family and I appreciate you so very much. 💜🙏🏽🦓🦋
