On Wednesday, we presented the Dominic Trionfo Pride, Spirit, & Heart Award. It was presented to two seniors at the Longwood High School Senior Athlete Banquet from The Dominic Memorial Fund. The award was renamed to include Dominic’s name 11 years ago. Thank you to Lori and Joe Cebul for presenting our award in memory of their nephew, Dominic. We appreciate Longwood for choosing the recipients for us as they do every year. Thank you also for all who support our fundraising efforts. These awards are one of the many things that we get to continue in Dominic’s memory. 💚 (Hopefully we can get more pictures to post.)

All 2023 orders were packed and filled by some very helpful volunteers in April. The classroom kits were shipped in early May to school districts who ordered across Long Island. Each kit contains 30 Boater and Water Safety Activity Books, 30 Parent Letters, and 30 stickers. Thank you to all the schools that participated in our program this year. Please continue to order these kits each year. Emails go out to administrators mid-winter with ordering information or you can check our web site. Orders are shipped one time per year.
Over the last few years, we reached over 45,000 students with our Boater and Water Safety Classroom Kits.
With generous fundraising through our nonprofit organization that was started in Dominic’s name, we created this classroom program. Our program is recommended by America's Boating Club/United States Power Squadrons. There is no cost to the schools to order these kits.

We are doing something different this year due to the pandemic. We will be holding a virtual auction for our Seventh Annual Dom’s Day on Sunday, October 11, 2020 and Monday, October 12, 2020. We will have many big items up for multiple auctions that you can buy a chance for a spin on the wheel. Please join our Facebook auction page, Dom’s Day Virtual Auction, to be part of this big event. Payments for the Virtual Auction will be made through Venmo.
We will be featuring our sponsors on our page throughout the two days. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please see our sponsor options on our sponsorship form or visit www.dominicmemorialfund.org/sponsor.html for more information.
Thank you for all those who helped make each year a big success. With everyone’s contributions either it be monetary, time, and/or spreading the word about our event and fund, we can continue to have this wonderful day in memory of Dominic as well as support community scholarships and our Boater and Water Safety Classroom Program.
On May 20, 2012, what started out as a beautiful day at the start of the boating season, ended tragically as our Dominic finally got the chance to use the family’s jet ski on his own, a feat that he was anticipating since our family had acquired the jet ski two years before. Dominic knew that he needed to get his boater’s license in order to ride on his own. Dom took the required boater safety class after he was eligible at the age of 14 and just couldn’t wait for this day. Tragically his anticipation ended in devastation and he died that fateful day while on his first solo ride on the jet ski.
Dominic played football for Longwood High School and LYSA. He loved the Jets and playing for Longwood. He had a compassionate heart and kind soul. This October Dominic would have been turning 23. He would have played on the varsity football team and graduated from Longwood High School in June 2015. To honor Dominic and his love of the water, our family has established a not-for-profit organization to promote the importance of boater and water safety on Long Island. We created a Boater and Water Safety Activity Book and Classroom Program. It was test piloted at Coram Elementary School in the Longwood School District in May 2017. These last two years in the spring, it was distributed in elementary schools to almost 30,000 children on Long Island at no cost to them. Our program was featured on News 12. We hope to have more schools participate next year. Please see our web site for information. Our organization has already distributed over $15,000 in academic and athletic scholarships to the Longwood Community since 2012. Over the last six months of the pandemic, we have made monetary donations for children in need to both Blessings in a Backpack for food and to Longwood Central School District for Chrome Books.
