WINFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT INSTALLS OPIOD RESCUE BOX

The Winfield Police Department has partnered with "Sounds of Sarah" to place an opioid rescue box containing free doses of Narcan (Naloxone) inside the first set of lobby doors at the Winfield Police Department located at 10688 Randolph Street, Winfield, Indiana.

The police station doors are open to the public 24 hours a day and anyone that may experience a need for a future opioid rescue, are welcome to take several rescue devices. A red EMERGENCY 911 Phone inside the lobby provides direct access to 911 Dispatchers who can summon police officers to the police station for any type of emergency or non-emergency purposes.

The public is encouraged to visit www.SoundsofSarah.org to learn more about opioid related drug overdoses and various ways to seek assistance for help.

I just want to shout out Mayor Angie again! Since she has taken office, she has been a champion against substance use and for recovery!

She shares her personal story to help break the stigma. She is always looking for ways to help those struggling, and trust me, she researches…if the answer is there she will find it! Last year, after I mentioned International Overdose Awareness Month/Day, she immediately got online and found the International Overdose Awareness website, where she discovered that many landmarks were lighting up purple. The notice was too short last year, but this year she made the requests and the Gazebo and Michigan City Public Library lit up purple for August! Next year there are more on the list to request!!

It is so important that leaders understand that people are struggling and there needs to be treatment and services available also that there needs to be funding for those things! I am grateful that Mayor Angie does all that she does to ensure that help us out there!

And I’m so grateful that Michigan City now has the Overdose Awareness Walk, to raise Awareness and give us all a day where we can honor our loved ones loudly!! 💜💜💜

Thank you Mayor Angie!!
