The Jay’s Wish Scholarship supports current seniors from diverse backgrounds who demonstrate resilience, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their community.
Inspired by the memory and perseverance of the late Javaughn (Jay) Blakely Jr., who passed away from cancer in 2014, this scholarship helps individuals pursue their educational goals while honoring the values of generosity, hope, and service to others.
Scholarship Requirements:
1.) Identify as Black/African American
2.) GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher (please submit an unofficial transcript)
3.) 250-500 word essay using one (1) of the following prompts:
Describe a challenge or obstacle you’ve faced and how you overcame it.
Who is someone who has influenced you, and how have they impacted your life?
If you could solve one problem in the world, what would it be and why?
4.) Active participant in your school and/or local community
