This afternoon, we were very grateful to receive 325 pounds of meat from Operation Feed LaPorte County. This donation will provide weeks of protein for the meals we serve four days per week. Thank you to all of Operation Feed LaPorte County's volunteers for organizing this event for local nonprofits!

We would like to thank the Health Foundation of LaPorte for the generous $5,000 Emergency Weather Grant we received last month. This funding allowed us to open on Labor Day and offset the increased food costs we have incurred. Since the storms, and with many guests facing ongoing SNAP challenges, we have noticed a sustained spike in guests utilizing our hot meal and pantry cart services. From August 16th to September 14th, we served 1,988 hot meals and distributed over 513 lbs of food through our pantry cart.

Today (Wed August 12th) at 5pm our friends at the Michigan City Salvation Army will be distributing sack meals and bottled water to anyone in need after the heavy storms.

Need a meal tonight?

Due to widespread power outages following yesterday's severe storms, The Salvation Army of Michigan City will be offering free sacked meals and bottled water to anyone in need.

📍 1201 S. Franklin Street
🕔 Starting at 5:00 PM today (WEDNESDAY)

These sandwiches and snacks will be ready to eat and intended to help those without refrigeration or cooking options.

A huge shout out to for their generous donation of protein, produce, canned goods, and so much more! Our soup kitchen is so grateful to all the volunteers and donors who made this event possible and for the opportunity to be one of the receiving organizations. These ingredients will be used to make nutritious meals for our guests. You make our work possible!

Exciting news! 🎉 Our very first newsletter is officially here! We are thrilled to share the incredible impact you helped make during the first half of 2026. Because of our dedicated volunteers and generous donors, we served 6,988 meals over 96 days!

Recently, Tannehill Community Soup Kitchen received a generous $1,000 grant from Walmart Michigan City to support our efforts to feed the community!

Today, we were so grateful to Billy from the Harris Family Farm Foundation for the donation of many pounds of organic lettuce and a ton of sourdough bread! From left to right: Tom who serves as our Food Safety Manager and board member; Billy from Harris Family Farm Foundation; Bill who is our dedicated, volunteer Chef; and Kathy, a long-time soup kitchen volunteer.

Another big thank you to the Michigan City Walmart and the Harris Family Farm Foundation! It means so much to have thoughtful community partners that help us feed our neighbors nutritious meals!
