We were happy to see so many families at the Michigan City Back to School Rally while we were giving out information about System of Care last week. Tonight we will be at Pullman Park for the National Night Out event with MCPD with lots more freebies and resources. Hope to see you there!

You may be asking yourself "What is the System of Care?"

The LaPorte County System of Care is focused on youth mental health access and made up of those who work with youth including local school systems, law enforcement, libraries, mental and behavioral healthcare providers, community mental health centers, and families navigating the system. Our System of Care facilitates the identification of, discussion about, and solutions for access to a full array of mental and behavioral health care services for youth in our community. We identify specific challenges/barriers for youth involved in the system as well as what is working well. These system perspectives on the challenges and strengths of the community’s mental health services will drive our policies & processes, outreach, advocacy, community education, and provider “Think Tank” efforts.

United Way's System of Care partners joined us today to meet with Congressman Frank Mrvan to share our concerns about the need for more mental health services for youth in La Porte County. We will continue to do all we can to help our children and youth get the supports they need.

Happy UNITED WAY Friday, we made it!!

Today we are highlighting La Porte County System of Care.

"The LaPorte County System of Care is a local collaborative of caring adults and organizations who provide support to young people with mental health and related needs, hoping to see them achieve wellness, engage in their communities, and ultimately thrive.

We can help children between 6 and 17 years old who are struggling:

-to manage behaviors or emotions at home, school, and/or in the community,
-with listening, following rules, running away, and getting in trouble with adults, with depression, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts, and
-with anger, aggression, and uncontrollable outbursts.

The LaPorte County Access Site provides a point of entry to the LaPorte County System of Care to help find and provide the right services for youth and families in our community. The Access Site can conduct both a pre-screening and an assessment to determine if a youth qualifies for the Children’s Mental Health Wraparound Programs....."
